Approach coverage on both runway ends

Homer’s six approaches serve both ends of the single 6,701 ft asphalt runway. Four RNAV (GPS) procedures and two localiser procedures provide more than one form of instrument guidance, while coverage in both directions avoids concentrating the published approaches on a single runway end. The trade-off in the one-runway layout is that there is no alternative alignment.

Nearby and VFR chart coverage

Kenai Municipal has a similarly broad procedure set, with ten charts compared with Homer’s nine, while Soldotna’s five-chart set is notably thinner. Homer also appears on four sectional charts—Anchorage, Kodiak, McGrath and Seward—which provide broader visual-navigation context beyond the airport diagram and terminal procedures.
