Kahului procedure coverage

Kahului’s instrument coverage reaches three of its four fixed-wing runway ends, leaving one end without a published approach. The eight approach charts span ILS, localiser, RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures, providing both precision and non-precision guidance rather than relying on one system. Eight departure charts give the terminal set equal depth on the outbound side.

Runways and regional context

Runway 02/20 is 2,018 ft longer than 05/23. For runway-length requirements between 4,981 and 6,998 ft, it is the only fixed-wing runway meeting the stated length. Molokai has the broadest nearby chart coverage with 12 procedures, while Hana, Lanai and Kalaupapa have much thinner sets of four to six. The Hawaiian Islands Sectional adds wider VFR context beyond the terminal procedures.
