FSX FDE For Rick Pipers DHC-1 Chipmunk

Rick Piper’s DHC-1 Chipmunk gains a completely reworked flight dynamics package for FSX, shaped through extensive evaluation by a real-world Chipmunk pilot. The result delivers authentic performance and handling with full aerobatic capability, including normal, flat, and inverted spins plus precise manoeuvres that align closely with published aircraft manuals.

Based on the input and very thorough testing by a real world Chippie pilot here is a much improved completely new FDE for the Rick Piper Chipmunk She is fully aerobatic now, capable of different spins and performs and handles now really close to its real world counterpart. By Bernt Stolle.

Being a big fan of the 'Chippie' I have Rick Pipers superb freeware version (v3) always on my FSX. Although the FDE was quite nice she was always lacking the more complex aerobatic capabilities. But without an experienced real world Chipmunk pilot the result of a new FDE would be have been a lot of guesswork.

Luckily I came across a very nice and very knowledgeable RW Chippie Pilot at a flightsim forum. After a few weeks of detailed testing, reading various manuals and pilot reports I was finally able to create a completely new, very realistic performing and handling Chipmunk FDE.

As there aren't too many fully aerobatic and realistic planes available in FSX, neither free or payware, I thought that making them available to all simmers might a good idea.

There are various DHC-1 manuals available on the internet which means you can fly her by using the original POH data. Like the real one, she's e.g. capable of normal, flat and inverted spins, hammerheads etc... Have fun in discovering this little planes (and your!) abilities.

Installation:

Just copy the new dhc1_ng.air file and the cfg file into your main Chipmunk folder. If you have installed any additional repaints make sure that the cfg entry refers to the dhc1_ng.air file.
