Skyways commenced operations in 1955 between Lympne and Beauvais for holiday makers traveling between London and Paris. Coaches transported the passengers between the airports and the capital cities. At their height, Skyways were operating up to 16 flights daily in the holiday season. Other destinations flown to included Lyons, Brussels, Antwerp, Dijon, Tours, and Frejus. A reorganisation in 1958 led to the formation of a separate company to operate these services. This company was known as Skyways Coach-Air Ltd. By 1961 they were also operating flights out of Gatwick to Beauvais and Le Bourget. 1963 saw the introduction of Skyways third Avro 748 and subsequently the DC-3's were withdrawn from passenger service and converted for cargo use. In 1967 the state owned Transport Holdings Company acquired a 50% interest in Skyways and when in 1970 Skyways asked for further funding this was not approved and in January 1971 operations ceased. A management buy out saw a newly formed airline, Skyways international Ltd acquiring the routes and the A748's. The DC-3's were not included in the sale and these passed into the hands of Air freight Ltd.
