FSX Automatic Afterburners

Automatic Afterburners gauge for FSX manages flame and afterburner effects via the aircraft.cfg LIGHTS entries, switching each engine independently based on N1 above 10 percent and throttle beyond 90 percent. It also includes a built-in state cycle to help ensure effects display reliably without manual light toggling.

This gauge is released as freeware, copyright Rob Barendregt and Don Bodenstedt.

This gauge controls the Flame and Afterburner Effects, defined in the LIGHTS section of the aircraft.cfg (number 6,7,8 and 9). It controls two engines separately, with functions:

Flame 'on': N1 > 10% (to indicates a running engine)
Afterburner 'on': Throttle position > 90%

Note: The code of the two first elements (state 0 and 1) is added to workaround a FS2K2 bug, sometimes resulting in an effect not showing. Can also be done by activating/deactivating ALL LIGHTS

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
