FSX LIAT Britten Norman BN2 Islander

LIAT’s Britten-Norman BN2 Islander in 1990s retro colors brings classic Caribbean island-hopping to FSX, tailored for short runs into smaller airfields. The package includes a detailed virtual cockpit, dedicated panel and gauges, plus custom BN2 soundset to match the aircraft’s character and handling.

Although the Caribbean airline only uses Dash 8 100/300 aircraft today, in the eighties and nineties the fleet consisted of Dash 8's, Twin Otters, Islanders and HS748s. This model depicts LIAT in its nineties "retro colors" when the aircraft used to fly to smaller airports for small hops. Comes with VC, panel, gauges and custom BN2 sounds. By Kenje Thomas.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    At least one other version of this (the AAS livery) is not all black. Checking out others may be of value. Not sure how to fix this one.

    Mine is also black. I wouldn't call it "unusable" since I was able to fly it just fine (with the 2d panel - didn't try 3d).

    I also noted that it doesn't have SimIcons buttons for the various popup items. An easy fix for those with Panel Studio, but just worth mentioning.

    Also, it has the GPS295, not GNS500, which is amusing, and could also be fixed in Panel Studio.

    I'm going to try another version (paint) of this, which also comes with a full base model, and I'll report back here if that one does any better.

    Note that what I'd really like is one in Hebrides paint -- from Scotland.
