FSX Vought V-8 Crusader

The Vought F-8 Crusader update refines the Alphasim jet for FSX with improved panel view angles for better visibility on approach, refreshed GPS and instruments including an added HUD, and tuned flight dynamics that better match the real speed envelope. Aircraft selection pictures help identify the correct model quickly.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This is an update for FSX of the Alphasim F8 Crusader. The panel view angle has been changed so it is easier to see out to fly and land. Also changed is the GPS, the clock, one angle of attack meter, the airspeed gauge. A HUD has been added. The flight dynamics have been updated so the aircraft is easier to fly and closer to the real aircraft speed envelope. Includes pictures so you can see which model you are choosing in the choose the aircraft window. By Bob Chicilo.

This is only for FSX as a few things, such as the position of the smoke, make it less functional in FS9. For FS9, see other update of this aircraft.

Unzip the file to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft folder to the SimObjects\airplanes folder. Copy the effects to the main effects folder, no need to overwrite anything already there.

If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the the default aircraft panel folders that have them, to the main FS gauges folder. For some, the .cab files will be .zip files as .cab files are a type of .zip file.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    great looking airplane only issue i'm running into is that the landing gear says its retracted but wont show it go up it just stays down.
