FSX Gloster Meteor T7 Complete Pack

A huge pack containing both a complete base model along with 20 different repaints and liveries bringing the Gloster Meteor T7 to Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D.  The complete base model was developed by the freeware developer Rob Richardson and repaints/liveries was crafted by Peter Watkins.

This pack does not disappoint with a stunning virtual rendition of the Gloster Meteor T7 along with 20 different period-correct liveries based on real-world operations of this iconic aircraft - which are all listed below.

The developer of the model states;

• Most of the sim controls are normal.  The pilot will disappear and wheel chocks materialize when the engine is shut down, after about 30 seconds or so.
• The pilot's oxygen masks are hanging and visors pulled up while on the ground then at 2000 ft or so they will be in place.
• To make for easy reading of the instruments just click on the red spoiler light at the top of the panel and the control stick will hide/show.
• To get into the rear VC just scroll through the "A" key whilst in VC mode.

About the Gloster Meteor T7 Variant

Here is a little information about the real-world Gloster Meteor T7 variant.

The Gloster Meteor T7 variant holds a unique position in aviation history, thanks to its distinct design and capabilities. As a two-seat training version of the famed Gloster Meteor, the T7 was instrumental in preparing pilots for high-speed jet aircraft operations during the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s.

This specific model evolved from the single-seat F.4 and F.8 fighter variants, which were known for their prowess in the skies during the early years of jet aviation. The T7 featured a lengthened fuselage to accommodate the second seat, necessary for the instructor to oversee the trainee pilot. Consequently, the variant boasted a slightly elongated appearance in comparison to its single-seat counterparts.

One of the key innovations in the Meteor T7 was the Rolls-Royce Derwent turbojet engines, which replaced the earlier Welland engines. These powerplants provided the T7 with increased thrust and performance, enabling trainee pilots to experience the full range of jet-powered flight. The upgraded engines also enhanced the aircraft's overall reliability, making it a safer training platform.

Another significant aspect of the T7 variant was the inclusion of an ejection seat for both the instructor and trainee. This critical safety feature allowed for the swift evacuation of the aircraft in case of an emergency, reducing the risk of fatalities during the training process.

The Gloster Meteor T7 served extensively with the Royal Air Force and other air forces globally, proving to be a vital stepping stone for pilots transitioning from propeller-driven aircraft to the jet age. The T7's legacy can be traced through the numerous pilots who mastered the challenges of jet-powered flight, thanks to the solid foundation provided by this exceptional training aircraft.

Liveries Included

This pack includes 20 different liveries and repaints based on real-world T7 operations.  They are listed below;

1. G-AKPK was the Gloster demonstrator converted from the remains of F4 G-AIDC. Sold to the Royal Netherlands Air Force in 1948 as I-1 and withdrawn from use in 1959.
2. WH209 was allocated to No 81 Squadron, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Tengah, Singapore in the early 60s.
3. The RNLAF I-22 was allocated to No 322 Squadron, Royal Dutch Air Force, and was based at Leeuwarden AB in the late 50s. 
4. ED40 was ex-RAF WA684 and was delivered to the Belgian Air Force in November 1956. Used by the Ecole de Chasse at Koksijde until 1962.
5. WS111 is painted as when operated by Airwork Services for the Sperry Gyroscope Company.
6. WS116 is painted as when used by the Royal Navy Station Flight at RNAS Lossiemouth.
7. 1441 was ex-RAF WG994 and was delivered to the Egyptian Air Force in February 1956, the last of six Meteor T7s supplied before the arms embargo prior to the Suez conflict.
8. WF722 was allocated to No 29 Squadron, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Luqa, Malta. Subsequently used by the Target Towing Flight at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus in 1965.
9. VW440 was allocated to No 203 Advanced Flying School, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Driffield in 1949. The School operated both Meteor F4s (with codes FMJ) and T7s (with codes FMK). Neither used the yellow training bands and were silver overall. The only currently airworthy Meteor T7 G-BWMF/ WA591 served with this unit as FMK: Q but sadly has been painted in spurious markings with yellow bands added.
10. F10/30: MZ was one of two Meteor T7s originally destined for Syria but banned from delivery under the arms embargo in the early 50s. The aircraft was diverted to France and served with ECN 2/30 based at Tours in 1953.
11. WH224 was allocated to No 500 (County of Kent) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, named 'Isle of Sheppey' and was based at RAF West Malling. Passed to RAF Strubby Fire Section in August 1966 and was eventually destroyed.
12. WA733 was allocated to the Air Fighting Development Squadron, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Binbrook in the late 50s.
13. 18 was ex-RAF WL466 and was delivered to the Israeli Defence Force/Air Force in October 1955. The aircraft was allocated to the 'First Jet' Squadron, based at Ramat David.
14. WA659 was allocated to No 33 Squadron, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Middleton St. George in the late 50s. Passed to RAF Manston Fire Section in April 1966 and was eventually destroyed.
15. A77-702 was ex-RAF WA732 and was delivered to the RAAF in January 1951. Served with No 77 Squadron in Korea and was named 'Leonie'. Preserved at the RAAF Museum.
16. WG979 was allocated to No 64 Squadron, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Duxford in the late 50s. 
17. 136 was ex-RAF XF277 and delivered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force in 1954 as I-312. Transferred to the Naval Air Service and used until 1961.
18. WH166 was allocated to the Central Flying School, Royal Air Force, and was based at RAF Little Rissington. Passed to RAF Digby in September 1969 as a ground instructional airframe. Preserved at Birlingham.
19. 4308 was ex-RAF WS150 and was delivered to the Brazilian Air Force in 1955. Used by the second squadron of the 1st Fighter Group based at Santa Cruz, the aircraft was retired in 1971 and is preserved at Manaus.
20. Gloster Meteor T7 Texture Update - Significantly changed panel and rivet lines for the texture file 'meteor 1' for Peter Watkin's repaints of Rob Richardson's Gloster Meteor T7. A new bumpmap file is also included. These files only apply to repaints created prior to 10/02/2014. Repaint files created by Peter Watkins.

All repaint and livery files in this comprehensive pack have been meticulously integrated into the aircraft.cfg file, ensuring a seamless user experience. Installation

• Extract the archive and browse into the Gloster Meteor T Mk 7 folder. 
• Inside this folder, copy the contents of the fx_effects folder into your FSX Effects folder. 
• Then copy the entire Gloster Meteor T Mk 7 folder into your FSX SimObjects/Airplanes folder.
• Load the sim and find the aircraft (along with the repaints) in your aircraft selection list.
