Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This is a complete Boeing 367 / C97 Stratofreighter and Stratotanker package. It includes the sound set and all previous versions, patches and updates. There are six exterior models including the YC-97A (new), C-97G, EC-97G, KC-97G, HC-97G, and KC-97L (also new). By Roland Berger (testing), Manfred Jahn (models, textures, monitor gauge), William N. Davidson (testing), Dan McManus (technical research, VC and panel textures, crew calls) Wayne Tudor (Flight Data Envelope), Ted Wolfgang (sound set).

Installation:

  • If you already have a Team Strat "Boeing_C-97" folder in your "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes" then move the whole folder to a backup location outside FSX. (You may need the old aircraft.cfg and your preferred add-on textures later.)
  • Extract the zip to a temporary folder or open it in Windows Explorer.
  • Copy the zip's "Boeing_C-97" folder to "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes" creating a new Boeing_C-97 folder in folder Airplanes.
  • Copy the effects files in zip folder "Effects" to "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects\".
  • Previous users: From the backup folder created in step (1) copy any previously downloaded textures back to the new Boeing_C-97 folder. Edit the new aircraft.cfg to include the [fltsim] sections for the additional textures. Make sure your fltsim sections are numbered in proper sequence.
  • As always, in FSX you may be prompted to accept certain gauge modules as trusted software. These are widely used FS modules (see credits in readme).

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    The KC-97 is a lot of fun to fly. We have one locally at Belmar Airfield in Ocean County NJ. The bugeye canopy gives a nice view.
