FSX Boeing C-97 V1 Beta Patch

Boeing C-97 V1 Beta Patch refines the Team Strat classic for Microsoft Flight Simulator X with corrected engine smoke, improved de-icing and turbocharger behavior, and expanded monitor controls for fuel, weight, and cabin lighting. The virtual cockpit gains upgraded altimetry, radio altimeter callouts, VOR and RMI navigation gauges, plus mended cabin wall geometry.

This patch contains various corrections to the FSX Boeing C97 V.1 Beta by Team Strat (FSX_BOEING_C97_V1B.ZIP) -- smoke effects, altimeters, VOR gauges, improved avionics. It also includes the Patch1 revisions previously published at Sim Outhouse. By Manfred Jahn.

List of changes:

  • Revised engine smoke by Ted "Tufun" (thanks Bill Leaming).
  • VC: Altimeter pressure set knob. Note: click to set current, mouse click or wheel to dial in.
  • VC: new Radio Altimeter gauge w/ Decision Height callout and light (low-range only, 0-400 ft).
  • VC: new VOR1 gauge w/ OBS knob and ILS Glide Slope Indicator.
  • VC: new RMI gauge with ADF and VOR1/2 needles (thanks Bill and Marc).
  • VC: various holes in cabin walls mended (co-pilot's view; thanks, Marc).
  • Monitor > Flight > Fuel/weight can now be set.
  • Monitor > Misc > Cabin lights (thanks Roger).
  • Monitor > Engines > Throttle: revised Turbocharger/wet takeoff (credit Doug Dawson).
  • Monitor > Engines > OAT: improved de-icing.
  • Monitor > Avionics > NAV1/2: Ident strings added.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
