FSX Lieutenant American Douglas A-1J Skyraider

Lieutenant America brings a Vietnam-era USAF A-1H look to Tim Conrad’s Douglas A-1J Skyraider with sharp DDS textures, authentic markings, and a historically inspired 1st Lt Randy Scott scheme linked to a restored survivor in Tennessee. Built for FSX and requires A-1J_SKYRAIDER.ZIP.

Lieutenant America is one of 4 Skyraiders that were flown by pilots of the VNAF to Thailand in the final days of the "Vietnam Conflict".
It has been restored to flight status by the Tennessee Museum of Aviation at Sevierville, TN.

IMPORTANT

I have enclosed the aircraft config file for the one I use. You can modify the original to pick up texture.America. Extract the files to the "A-1J" folder. The zip file contains all the neccessary files for this texture scheme and are dds files. Make sure "Use Folder Names" is checked so it will create the texture.America folder when you extract the files. You do not need to copy any additional files to the texture.America folder.

CHANGE THE "X" TO THE NEXT NUMBER IN YOUR CONFIG FILE!!

The above line is the last line in the aircraft.cfg changes.

If you have any photos of A-1Js or A-1Hs and want to share them with me I would appreciate it.

I would all so like to here your comments concerning the textures. Good, bad or indifferent. A comment would be appreciated.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

For Russell R Smith, inre the A-1J Skyraider "Lieutenant America", I have a water-color of this A/C done by the late Bob Doughty. If you haven't seen this version, I bet you'd really like to. I can send you a copy, if you'd like. Robin
