FSX Rajiv Gandhi Int'l Airport Scenery

Rajiv Gandhi Int'l Airport, Hyderabad (VOHS), India, v2.1. This new airport was opened for commercial traffic on 22/03/2008. It replaces the old Begumpet Airport (VOHY) which has been closed down. It is also known as Shamshabad Airport. Data used is from AIP Supplement 10/2008 and 20/2008 issued by Airports Authority of India. By Sanjay Dutt.

This new airport was opened for commercial traffic on 22/03/2008. It replaces the old Begumpet Airport (VOHY) which has been closed down. It is also known as Shamshabad Airport.

It has the longest & widest runway in India. It is 4260x60m and can handle the A380. The parallel taxiway is 45m wide, as wide as runways at large airports!

VOHS NAVAID DATA

RWY 9 ILS is IHBD (118.5MHz), heading 90 degrees true. RWY 27 ILS is ISAM (110.9MHz), heading 270 degrees true.
VOR/DME is HIA. Frequency is 113.8MHZ.

VOHS COMMUNICATION FREQUENCIES

Ground - 121.85 MHz
Tower - 118.45 MHz
Approach - 120.25 MHz
ATIS - 126.475 MHz

INSTALLATION

IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED SCENERY FOR VOHS EARLIER, BACKUP AND DELETE ALL THOSE FILES FOR VOHS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS INSTALLATION.

The file VOHS_09_27_SD.BGL should be copied to the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery" folder, not to the 'scenery' folder under VOHS. This file includes ILS approach data for VOHS in the FS GPS and for AI aircraft.

TO UPGRADE FROM MY PREVIOUS VERSION: Delete all files from the scenery & texture folders under VOHS, then as below:

1. Unzip the archive into your "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery" folder.

2. A new folder named VOHS will be created with sub-folders named 'scenery' & 'texture'. The BGL files (16 in number) should be in the scenery folder. The Texture folder should contain 35 files.

3. Start FS and add this scenery area in the scenery library. Ensure it has the 'tick' mark showing it is active.

4. Re-start FS, go to VOHS, and enjoy.

GENERAL

The scenery has been made using the following tools:
Airport Facilitator X v1.04, an excellent commercial program, for the basic AFCAD file and taxiway signs.
SBuilder, a freeware program, for various VTP2 polygons, flattens.
Library Object Manager & Scenery Maker, a freeware package, for object placement.

I have tried to be as accurate as possible in the placement of the ARP, runway, taxiways, and various Navigation aids in the AFCAD file. Data used is from AIP Supplement 10/2008 & 20/2008 issued by Airports Authority of India.
As no other picture/photograph was available to me, I have created a terminal building from FSX default terminal buildings. The Control Tower is also something taken from the stock objects shipped with FSX, though I have tried to be accurate in its placement.
All other buildings & objects are either from FSX or from freely distributable sources.

WARNING NOTE: If you open & save AFX_VOHS_FSX.BGL in Lee Swordy's AFCAD, the taxiway signs will disappear. You have been warned!

VERSION HISTORY

Version 1 released on 26/03/2008 for FS2004.
Released for very limited distribution.

Version 2 DATED 7th April, 2008 for FS2004.
This version replaces the old one in its entirety.
It is frame-rate-friendly. The older one was not.
This scenery has parking stands/gates 1-12, 40-59, 90-94, 200-204 (Cargo), 300-305 (MRO), & 1 Isolation Bay parking.
Jetways have been provided at a number of gates.
All taxiways have signs.
A few static aircraft, fences, trees added to the scenery.

Version 2.1 DATED 6th August, 2008 for FSX
