This freeware package by scenery designer Alf Denham updates several lesser-known UK airfields that originally contained very sparse details. Drawing on aerial references, pilot guides, and dedicated modeling utilities, it optimizes each included location in a way that harmonizes with the native scenery elements found in Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX). It also references the enhancements from earlier simulators such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and echoes how FSX marked a notable leap forward in default scenery. Although the improvements here are not intended to be exact, they augment the immersive feel of these modest airfields with carefully placed structures, new landclass entries, and other subtle touches.

Specific UK Airfield Refinements

In this volume, you will discover updates for:

• Eggesford (X2EG) - A charming grass-strip setting in Devon, often used for general aviation and vintage aircraft operations.
• Eshott (EG18) - Located in Northumberland, this airfield is a popular base for pilot training and recreational flying activities.
• Swansea (EGFH) - Found on the gorgeous Welsh coast, known for small commuter flights and flight training, now reclaimed with improved detail.

Technical Insights and Development Tools

Each location was refined using a combination of Google Earth imagery, Pooleys UK Flight Guide, and the official FSX SDK Object Placement Tool. Additional modifications employed Airport Design Editor v1.37, which streamlines runway layouts and apron markings, while Instant Object Maker v1.2 generated custom models where standard simulator assets were insufficient. Most structures rely on default FSX scenery objects; however, unique elements appear where necessary to replicate local landmarks and building footprints. These modifications integrate landclass updates to align the surrounding area with actual geographical data.

Compatibility Considerations

This addon was developed with FSX SP2 in mind, and missing either SP1 or SP2 could potentially lead to visual or placement anomalies. Although designed for default scenery, some discrepancies may arise if you use photoreal addons that overwrite ground textures or elevations. Nonetheless, the goal remains to enhance, rather than precisely mirror, each field’s layout.

Installation Steps

1. Unzip the contents into a temporary directory of your choice.
2. Review the “ReadMe” text files located in each relevant folder for detailed instructions.
3. Move or copy the extracted scenery folders into your simulator’s addon directory.
4. Activate the newly installed scenery within FSX as you would any other custom addon.

Uninstall Procedure

Simply remove the corresponding folders from your simulator’s addon directory to revert to the stock airfields. Ensure you deactivate them in the scenery library if necessary before physically deleting any files.
