FSX Lockheed L-188 Electra Update

Lockheed L-188 Electra flight dynamics and panel refinements bring Mike Stone’s classic turboprop closer to FSX Acceleration standards, with updated configuration files, gauges, and revised throttle instrumentation for smoother operation. Requires the original SL188.ZIP aircraft, and focuses on reliable 2D panel usability without a virtual cockpit.

This is an update for FSX acceleration of the Lockheed L188 Electra by Mike Stone. The author has updated the flight dynamics and changed the panel so it will work in FSX. No virtual cockpit. You need the original aircraft for this update to work (SL188.ZIP). By Bob Chicilo.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. After backing up your air, aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg files, replace them with the ones in this update. Copy the .jpg picture to the aircraft folder. Back up the ecu.bmp file in the panel folder and replace it with the one in this update. Copy the gauges to the main FS gauges folder.

If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the default aircraft panel folders that have them to the main FS gauges folder. This includes the helicopters. For some the .cab files will be .zip files as .cab files are a type of .zip file.

The throttle gauges that go with the original ecu.bmp don't work in FSX, so I replaced them with the ones from the KC-135. This made it necessary to change the background picture. There is one thing I noticed that I cannot fix. The throttle handles disappear when on autopilot and the throttles are at the top of the throttle quadrant. This also happens in the KC-135 that I took the throttles from; so I expect it is a problem with the gauges.

See [reference speeds] section of the aircraft.cfg file for operating speeds.

Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them.

Bob Chicilo.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
