Find compatible C-17 liveries for MSFS 2024, install them on PC, and fix missing or broken repaints without choosing the wrong aircraft package.
Download C-17 liveries for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 from our free MSFS livery catalogue. Before downloading, confirm that the repaint names the exact C-17 aircraft package you own and explicitly supports MSFS 2024; C-17 textures made for another developer’s model may install correctly but remain invisible or render incorrectly.
How do I find the correct C-17 repaint?
Search for both C-17 and Globemaster III, then compare each file’s description with the aircraft installed in your simulator. Our broader collection of MSFS aircraft and repaint downloads is also useful when a livery is listed alongside its required base aircraft rather than in a dedicated livery category.
Do not treat “C-17” as the complete compatibility specification. A repaint is built around a particular add-on’s internal model, texture mapping and aircraft configuration, so two C-17 packages are not automatically interchangeable.
| Check | What the download should confirm |
|---|---|
| Base aircraft | The exact C-17 package or developer release required |
| Simulator | MSFS 2024 support, or stated compatibility with both MSFS 2020 and 2024 |
| File type | A repaint requiring an existing aircraft, or a complete aircraft package |
| Variant | The correct model variant if the add-on provides more than one |
A mistake we see constantly is downloading an attractive military scheme without checking the required base aircraft. The screenshot shows the paint design, not proof that it fits every C-17 model.
How do I install a C-17 livery in MSFS 2024?
On PC, a conventional C-17 livery package is extracted and placed in the active MSFS 2024 Community folder. The folder location varies with the installation platform and any custom package path, so use our complete MSFS livery installation instructions if you are unsure which Community folder the simulator is reading.
- Confirm the dependency: install and test the required C-17 aircraft before adding the repaint.
- Extract the download: do not place the ZIP or other archive directly in
Community. - Find the package-level folder: the correct folder normally contains files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. Avoid leaving that folder buried inside an extra wrapper folder. - Copy the livery package: place it in the active
Communityfolder without merging it into the base aircraft. - Restart the simulator: select the matching C-17, then choose the new paint scheme from its available liveries.
Keep only one copy of each repaint installed. Duplicate versions with different outer folder names can produce repeated entries or load the wrong textures.
Will an MSFS 2020 C-17 livery work in MSFS 2024?
An MSFS 2020 C-17 livery may work in MSFS 2024 when both simulators use the same underlying aircraft package and the repaint’s configuration remains compatible, but this is not guaranteed. Prefer a download explicitly marked for MSFS 2024 or for both versions.
Renaming the folder does not convert an incompatible repaint. If the livery references a different aircraft title, model or texture structure, it needs a proper update rather than a new folder name.
Why does the C-17 livery not appear or display correctly?
A missing livery usually indicates the wrong base aircraft, a nested installation folder or an outdated aircraft reference. Pink, blank or distorted surfaces instead point to missing textures, incorrect texture paths or mapping intended for another C-17 model.
- No livery in the selector: verify the required aircraft package and check that the livery folder is not nested one level too deep.
- Checkerboard, pink or blank textures: remove the repaint and obtain a release made for that exact C-17 package.
- Duplicate livery entries: search the Community folder for older copies of the same package.
- Problems after an aircraft update: the repaint may need revised configuration files; reinstalling the same incompatible release will not correct that.
Our repaint installation and troubleshooting guide covers the dependency and package-structure checks that apply when a livery refuses to load.
Can Xbox or PS5 install downloaded C-17 liveries?
Downloaded ZIP-based liveries cannot be manually installed on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 or PS5 Pro because those consoles do not expose the PC Community folder. Console players can use only C-17 liveries distributed through the simulator’s supported in-game content system; the manual installation method above is for PC.
