Find safe MSFS 2024 livery downloads, match them to the correct aircraft, install them on PC, and understand Xbox and PS5 limits.
Download MSFS 2024 liveries on PC from our MSFS freeware library, choosing a package made for your exact aircraft and developer. Extract it into the simulator’s Community folder. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 cannot install external Community-folder files; console liveries require supported in-simulator content.
Where should I look for MSFS 2024 liveries?
Search the MSFS downloads library using the aircraft model, variant and airline or operator name. For example, include details such as A321neo, 777F or C-17 rather than searching only for “airliner livery”.
Most livery downloads are repaints rather than complete aircraft. You must already own or have installed the aircraft named in the listing. Our advice on finding free airline repaints explains how to distinguish liveries for default aircraft from those made for a specific add-on developer.
How do I choose the correct livery package?
A livery must match the exact aircraft package, not merely the real-world type. Two developers can model the same Airbus or Boeing aircraft with different texture layouts, file structures and model definitions.
- Check the named developer: a repaint made for one developer’s A320 will not normally work on another developer’s A320.
- Match the variant: passenger, freighter, engine and fuselage variants may use different models.
- Confirm the simulator: prefer packages explicitly marked for MSFS 2024. Some MSFS 2020 liveries work, but compatibility is not automatic.
- Check the required aircraft: installing a repaint does not unlock or supply a payware, Premium or separately downloaded aircraft.
Can Xbox and PlayStation players install downloaded liveries?
Only the PC version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 supports manually installed Community-folder liveries. Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro do not provide normal file-system access for adding packages downloaded through a web browser.
| Platform | External livery downloads | Available route |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | Yes | Community folder or supported in-simulator content |
| Xbox Series X|S | No | Built-in, bundled or in-simulator content |
| PS5 and PS5 Pro | No | Built-in, bundled or in-simulator content |
The same restriction applies even when a freeware repaint is compatible with the aircraft itself. We cover the practical options in our explanation of how liveries work on PS5.
How do I install an MSFS 2024 livery on PC?
Extract the download and place its actual package folder inside the active MSFS 2024 Community folder. Do not copy the ZIP archive itself.
- Verify compatibility: confirm that the livery names your aircraft, developer and simulator version.
- Extract the archive: use Windows extraction or a suitable archive utility.
- Find the package root: open the extracted folders until you reach the package containing files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. - Move that package: place it directly inside the Community folder used by MSFS 2024.
- Restart the simulator: select the repaint from the aircraft’s available liveries.
The Community-folder location varies with the installation method and any custom package path. Follow our full livery installation and folder-location instructions rather than guessing the path.
Why does a downloaded livery not appear?
The usual causes are an extra nested folder or a repaint made for a different aircraft package. Open the installed directory first: if it contains another identically named folder before the package files appear, move the inner package up one level.
- Wrong aircraft selected: check the developer, model and engine or body variant.
- Package still compressed: MSFS does not load a livery left inside its ZIP or archive.
- Wrong Community folder: MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 may use separate package locations.
- Duplicate or conflicting package: remove older copies instead of keeping several versions with similar package names.
- Older MSFS 2020 repaint: obtain a native MSFS 2024 release if the original package does not load correctly.
- Mode restrictions: test the livery in free flight, because some structured activities or Career Mode assignments control the aircraft’s appearance.
If the repaint appears but has blank, pink, misplaced or mirrored textures, its texture mapping does not match the loaded model. Reinstalling the same files rarely fixes that; use a livery specifically built or updated for that aircraft version.
