Which aircraft has the most realistic systems?

Fenix wins on overall system completeness, particularly when operations stop going exactly to plan. Its strength is the way aircraft systems, flight-management logic and abnormal conditions work together as a finished commercial simulation.

The A32NX is not merely a modified default A320. It has extensive custom fly-by-wire, displays, flight-management logic and cockpit systems, making it capable enough for realistic gate-to-gate flying. Some features remain branch-dependent, however, and a development or experimental build may trade reliability for unfinished changes.

For ordinary airline procedures, both demand proper Airbus technique: entering performance data, reading the Flight Mode Annunciator and understanding selected versus managed modes. Neither aircraft is a certified training device, regardless of its system depth.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose Fenix if system fidelity is your main concern, you want an A320ceo, and you are comfortable paying for a PC-only add-on.
  • Choose the A32NX if you want an A320neo, need a free option or prefer an open-source aircraft with multiple development channels.

Will Fenix or the A32NX run better?

The A32NX is usually the safer choice for a marginal PC, but neither aircraft has a universal frame-rate advantage. Glass-cockpit rendering, traffic, scenery, weather and background utilities can outweigh the difference between the two aircraft.

Fenix relies on companion software for parts of its simulation, so closing or blocking that component is not a valid performance fix; it can leave displays or systems inoperative. Compare the aircraft under controlled conditions instead:

  1. Use the same scenario: load the same airport, stand, weather, traffic level and cockpit view.
  2. Keep graphics unchanged: use identical render scaling, resolution and glass-cockpit settings.
  3. Check frame-time consistency: short stutters during taxi or approach matter more than a small difference in average frame rate.
  4. Leave operating headroom: busy hubs and poor weather place a greater load on the simulator than an empty test airport.

Can you use Fenix or FlyByWire on Xbox or PlayStation?

No. The standard Fenix A320 and FlyByWire A32NX releases are PC-only because they depend on PC installation methods, custom components or companion software unavailable on consoles.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 itself runs on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, but that does not make PC add-ons console-compatible. A PC purchase or Community-folder package cannot be transferred to a console installation.

What problems are commonly mistaken for aircraft bugs?

Installation conflicts, throttle calibration and misunderstood Airbus automation cause many apparent faults in both aircraft.

  • Incorrect throttle detents: calibrate idle, climb, flex and take-off positions inside each aircraft's own configuration system. Do not assume one hardware profile will align identically in both.
  • Mixed A32NX branches: keep only one intended build installed. Old manual copies can conflict with packages placed by the installer.
