FlightControlReplay Embedded not working in MSFS 2024? Fix the package, toolbar or PC connection, then isolate add-on and aircraft conflicts.
FlightControlReplay Embedded usually stops working in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 because the wrong edition is installed, its Marketplace package is inactive or outdated, its panel or PC connection has failed, or another add-on conflicts with it. Verify MSFS 2024 and platform compatibility first, then update, restart and test in a clean default-aircraft flight.
Fix FlightControlReplay Embedded in this order
The quickest diagnosis is to establish whether the package can record a short flight with a default aircraft and no other add-ons running.
- Identify the edition and supported platform. FlightControlReplay Embedded and the separate Windows desktop edition are not interchangeable. The desktop utility is PC-only and uses SimConnect; an in-simulator package must explicitly support MSFS 2024 and the device on which it is running. Our comparison of replay tools, compatibility and platform limits explains the distinction. An MSFS 2020 entitlement appearing in the library does not by itself prove that a compatible 2024 build is active.
- Update every supplied component. Close MSFS 2024, install the latest Embedded package offered through the simulator's content library, and update any companion PC application included with your edition. Restart the whole simulator afterwards; merely returning to the main menu does not reload an in-sim module.
- Check that the package is enabled. Find FlightControlReplay Embedded in My Library or the relevant content-management screen. Confirm that it is installed, enabled or available for streaming, as applicable. If it is marked installed but its panel is absent, disable and re-enable it or uninstall and download it again through the same library.
- Restore the in-sim panel. Load a normal free flight, wait until the aircraft is fully in the cockpit, and inspect the simulator toolbar or panel menu. Enable the FlightControlReplay panel if it has been hidden. Toolbar panels may not initialise correctly when opened before the flight has finished loading.
- Make a controlled recording. Use a default aircraft at a default airport, begin recording only after the flight is ready, and confirm that the timer or recording indicator advances. Stop the recording before attempting playback. This separates an installation failure from an unsupported third-party aircraft.
- Check SimConnect only when your edition uses it. If the installation includes a Windows companion program, run it and MSFS under the same Windows account and privilege level—normally neither should be run as administrator. Close duplicate copies and allow the program through the firewall when prompted. Do not place the desktop application's program files in the
Communityfolder. - Run a clean add-on test. Disable non-essential Community packages and Marketplace add-ons, including other camera, replay, traffic and aircraft-bridge utilities. Use Safe Mode if MSFS offers it after a crash. If the problem began with a simulator update, follow our MSFS 2024 post-update isolation procedure before reinstalling everything.
What does each FlightControlReplay symptom mean?
The symptom usually identifies whether the fault is the package, its connection or the recorded aircraft data.
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Best next check |
|---|---|---|
| No panel or toolbar icon | Package disabled, incomplete or incompatible with the installed simulator build | Verify the edition in My Library, reinstall it there and restart MSFS |
| Panel opens but controls are grey | No active flight, mismatched components or missing PC connection | Load into the cockpit, then update and reconnect any supplied companion application |
| Recording remains at zero | Recording was started too early or the aircraft is unsupported | Repeat the test after Ready to Fly with a default aircraft |
| Playback moves the aircraft but not its systems | Custom aircraft variables are not being reproduced | Compare the same recording workflow with a default aircraft |
| MSFS crashes while loading or opening the panel | Outdated package, module failure or add-on conflict | Use Safe Mode and inspect the package set; our WASM module crash checks cover the relevant isolation steps |
Why does FlightControlReplay record but replay incorrectly?
A recording that exists but plays badly is usually an aircraft-data limitation rather than a broken installation.
Complex third-party aircraft use custom variables and code for their flight-management systems, switches, animations and ground states. A replay tool may reproduce position and basic control data without recreating every cockpit state. If the default-aircraft test works, repeatedly reinstalling FlightControlReplay is unlikely to fix the incompatible aircraft behaviour.
For a clean comparison, use preset weather, disable injected traffic and avoid changing aircraft during the session. Confirm that recording genuinely started and that the saved session is not empty; our recording and replay troubleshooting checks cover empty files, desynchronisation and aircraft-specific failures.
Can FlightControlReplay Embedded work on Xbox or PlayStation?
It can run on a console only when that specific Embedded release is listed as compatible with both MSFS 2024 and the console concerned.
Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro cannot run the Windows desktop edition or a separate PC executable. Do not assume that owning the product on PC grants a working console build. If the simulator's content library does not offer a compatible Embedded package for that platform, SimConnect changes, Community-folder edits and PC reinstalls cannot provide a workaround.
When is there no user-side fix?
A compatibility update is required when the latest available package still fails in a clean default-aircraft flight after an MSFS Simulator Update.
This is especially likely when the panel worked before the simulator update, now crashes with all other add-ons disabled, or is no longer offered as compatible in the content library. Reinstalling the same build or adding unrelated SimConnect files will not make an older package compatible. Record the simulator build, FlightControlReplay edition, platform, aircraft and exact symptom, then provide those details to the product's support channel.
