Yes. X-Plane Mobile can be played offline in single-player mode, provided the app, aircraft and scenery for the route are already downloaded and any account entitlement has been validated. You still need internet access for initial installation, new content, updates, some licence checks, multiplayer and other live online services.
Is X-Plane Flight Simulator offline or online?
X-Plane Mobile is both an offline flight simulator and an online service, depending on the feature being used.

The practical rule is simple: X-Plane Mobile can use content already stored and authorised on the device, but it cannot fetch missing files or use features that depend on other players or live services.
How do you prepare X-Plane Mobile for offline use?
The most reliable preparation is to download and test the exact aircraft and scenery combination before losing internet access.
- Install and update the app. Use a reliable connection, complete any pending update and sign in with the account associated with your purchases or subscription.
- Download the whole route. Store the departure area, destination, route corridor and any regions containing likely alternates. Do not assume that downloading one airport includes all terrain along the flight.
- Confirm each aircraft is local. Select the aircraft you intend to use and allow every associated download to finish.
- Load a complete flight while online. Wait until the cockpit, airport and surrounding scenery appear correctly. This catches incomplete files before they become an offline problem.
- Run a genuine cold-start test. Close X-Plane Mobile fully, enable flight mode, make sure Wi-Fi is off, reopen the app and start the same flight.
- Leave the installation untouched. Do not sign out, clear app data, reinstall the app or use a storage cleaner before travelling.

A mistake we see often is disconnecting only after the cockpit has loaded. That proves the active flight can continue without internet; it does not prove the app can launch, authorise the aircraft and load the scenery from a cold start.
Does every X-Plane Mobile scenery region work offline?
No; only scenery bundled with the installation or downloaded completely to the device is available offline.
If the route crosses an area that is not stored locally, X-Plane Mobile cannot retrieve the missing scenery while disconnected. Download a wider corridor than the planned track, especially when the flight follows coastlines, crosses regional boundaries or may require a diversion.
Check free storage after the downloads finish. A region shown in the selection interface may still be incomplete if the download was interrupted, the device ran out of space or the operating system suspended the app.
Can purchased or subscription aircraft be flown offline?
Purchased or subscription aircraft generally work offline after their files and entitlement have been validated, but permanent offline access should not be assumed.
A new account, sign-out, reinstall, app update or extended period without validation may trigger another check. Before a trip, reconnect, open the aircraft and repeat the cold-start test rather than relying on a flight loaded several days earlier.
Why does X-Plane Mobile fail or remain on the loading screen offline?
An offline failure usually means that a required file or account check is missing, not that single-player offline flying is unsupported.
- Incomplete scenery: reconnect, resume the regional download and wait for it to finish before closing the app.
- Aircraft not stored locally: an aircraft can appear in a catalogue before all of its files have been downloaded. Load it while connected.
- Entitlement needs validation: reconnect with the account that owns the purchase or subscription, confirm access and test again.
- App offloading: some devices remove an infrequently used app while leaving its icon visible. Reinstalling it requires internet and may also require content to be downloaded again.
- Cleared or reclaimed storage: an operating-system storage feature or cleaning utility may have removed local data.
- Online mode selected: multiplayer and other server-dependent functions cannot start offline. Choose a local single-player flight.
- Poor connection rather than no connection: a weak or restricted network can leave the app waiting for a response. Test once on a reliable connection, then repeat with all networking switched off.

Are X-Plane 11 Mobile and X-Plane 12 Mobile separate versions?
No. X-Plane Mobile is a separate product from the desktop generations commonly called X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12.
People often use “X-Plane 11 Mobile” or “X-Plane 12 Mobile” as informal search terms, but the mobile app is not the complete desktop simulator transferred to a phone or tablet. Aircraft, scenery, plug-ins, installation methods and licence behaviour differ between the two.

Can you download X-Plane 12 Mobile?
There is no separate full desktop edition officially called X-Plane 12 Mobile; download X-Plane Mobile for a mobile device or obtain X-Plane 12 for a supported desktop platform.
An “X-Plane 12 Mobile download” does not turn the mobile app into the desktop simulator. Likewise, desktop X-Plane 11 or X-Plane 12 add-ons should not be assumed to work in X-Plane Mobile.
Do you need an X-Plane Mobile mod APK to fly offline?
No. A mod APK is an altered Android installation package, not an offline scenery or aircraft download, and it is unnecessary for legitimate offline flying.
Modified packages may contain unwanted code, bypass payment or account systems, break entitlement checks and prevent normal updates. They can make offline access less reliable rather than improve it. Install the unmodified mobile app through its official distribution channel, then download its content from inside the app.
Desktop add-ons placed in folders such as Aircraft or Custom Scenery are not automatically compatible with X-Plane Mobile. Our X-Plane aircraft and scenery downloads are intended for the compatible desktop versions stated on each listing; they are not X-Plane Mobile mod APK files.
Is a Flyaway or “Flew Away” app required?
No separate Flyaway app is required to use X-Plane Mobile online or offline.
