Approach coverage at Valle

Valle’s compact instrument set is evenly divided between runway directions: one RNAV (GPS) approach serves runway 01 and another serves runway 19. Instrument coverage is therefore available to both ends of the single 4,199 ft runway rather than being concentrated on one alignment. At a field elevation of 5,999 ft, that runway length is a significant aircraft-performance consideration.

Wider chart context

Grand Canyon National Park and Flagstaff Pulliam have substantially broader chart collections, with eight and seven procedures respectively. H A Clark Memorial Field and Cottonwood match Valle’s three-chart coverage, while Sedona is only slightly broader. The Las Vegas and Phoenix sectionals provide wider VFR context, supplemented by the more specialised Grand Canyon VFR Chart.

Common questions about 40G

What charts are available for 40G?

3 current FAA charts for Valle, including 2 instrument approachs. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for 40G?

CTAF 122.8. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at 40G?

Valle has 1 runway. The longest is 01/19 at 4,199 ft by 45 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does 40G have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total 40G has 2 published instrument approaches, of which 2 are RNAV (GPS).

How high is 40G?

The field elevation is 5,999 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is 40G a towered airport?

No — Valle has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.

Are these 40G charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
