Sturgis Municipal’s instrument coverage is narrow and entirely GPS-based: two RNAV procedures serve two of the airport’s four runway ends. Half the available runway directions therefore lack a published instrument approach. The 5,100 ft concrete runway is 1,520 ft longer than the turf runway, making the two alignments materially different in both available length and surface.
Nearby procedure coverage varies sharply. Ellsworth AFB and Rapid City Regional have substantially broader chart sets, while Black Hills–Clyde Ice Field and Mondell Field are closer to Sturgis in overall coverage; Belle Fourche Municipal is thinner still. The Billings and Cheyenne sectionals complement the airport procedures with wider VFR context around Sturgis.
