Go PROYellowstone’s high country and the northern Rocky Mountain foothills occupy the western side of this sheet, while the landscape opens eastwards across Montana’s broad plains and into the western Dakotas. The coverage reaches north to the Canadian border and south across northern Wyoming, including the Black Hills region. It is a marked terrain transition: mountain ranges, upland basins and broken foothills give way to expansive prairie and river country.
The adjoining Great Falls chart continues coverage to the west, with Twin Cities to the east. Southbound routes pass onto Cheyenne, while Salt Lake City meets the south-western edge and Omaha the south-eastern edge. Together these joins make the Billings sheet a central link for routes crossing Montana or running between the northern plains, Wyoming and the interior West.
