Altoona/Blair County’s four instrument procedures serve only two of its four runway ends, concentrating instrument access on half of the runway configuration. Three RNAV (GPS) approaches sit alongside ILS and localiser capability, providing both satellite-based and ground-based options. The 5,465 ft runway offers almost 1,800 ft more distance than the second runway, so the available length changes substantially with runway alignment.
John Murtha Johnstown/Cambria County has by far the broadest nearby procedure set. Bedford County and Somerset County are closer to Altoona in chart coverage, while Ebensburg and Franklin County Regional have notably thinner sets. The Detroit Sectional adds wider-area visual and aeronautical context absent from the instrument procedures.
