Approach coverage

Four of Willard’s six runway ends have published approach coverage, leaving two ends without a procedure. RNAV (GPS) forms the largest part of the approach set, while the ILS supplies precision guidance and the VOR and localiser procedures retain conventional alternatives. Coverage is therefore spread across much of the runway system rather than concentrated on one alignment.

Runways and surrounding coverage

The three runways span a pronounced range of lengths: the 3,816 ft runway has a much narrower operating envelope than the 6,502 ft and 8,101 ft runways. Decatur has comparably broad and slightly larger chart coverage; Rantoul and Vermilion are about half as extensive, with Frasca Field and Paxton thinner again. The Chicago and St Louis sectionals add wider-area VFR context beyond the terminal procedures.
