Approach coverage

Muskegon County’s six approach plates serve all four ends of its two-runway layout, rather than concentrating instrument access on a single alignment. The mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based coverage. At 6,500 ft and 6,100 ft, the runways are close in length, so changing alignment does not entail a large reduction in available distance.

Local chart context

None of the nearby listed fields has equally broad procedure coverage. West Michigan Regional comes closest with five charts, while Grand Haven, Fremont, Sparta and Ottawa Executive have only two to four each. The Chicago Sectional adds wider visual context around Muskegon and the neighbouring airports that the instrument procedures and airport diagram do not provide.
