Balanced coverage across both runways

Sacramento International’s procedure set serves all four ends of its two parallel runways. ILS coverage includes two procedures with CAT II/III minima, alongside localiser and RNAV (GPS) options, giving the field several distinct instrument procedure families rather than concentrating coverage on one direction. Both runways are almost exactly 8,600 ft long, so neither introduces a meaningful length disadvantage relative to the other.

Nearby chart coverage and VFR context

Sacramento Executive has the broadest procedure set among the nearby fields, although its coverage remains considerably thinner than SMF’s. McClellan Airfield, University, Yolo County and Watts-Woodland have smaller sets, with Watts-Woodland the sparsest. The San Francisco Sectional adds the wider visual-navigation context around Sacramento that the airport-specific terminal procedures do not provide.
