Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This updated AFCAD package for Tulsa International Airport (KTUL) in Tulsa, Oklahoma (OK), makes extensive use of current design data to refine runway operations, gate allocations, and ground service routing. Created by Ray Smith, it seamlessly integrates into Microsoft Flight Simulator X and optimizes both AI traffic flow and user experience. Enthusiasts will notice accurate signage, extended parking areas, and a reconfigured crosswind runway, all while maintaining smooth performance during busy flight schedules.

Key Modifications and Technical Details

This airport layout relies on ADE (Airport Design Editor) and was fine-tuned for the default simulator terrain. The crosswind runway setup allows three runways to handle simultaneous takeoff and landing sequences, ensuring dynamic use of airport space. In contrast, the alternate file preserves the default runway structure for those preferring a more traditional approach. Gate positions match real-world allocations, and taxiway labels adhere to the most recent charts available. Extra fuel trucks, meticulously rebuilt vehicle roads, and unobstructed tower views have been added to enhance realism. The scenery vantage point from the control tower roof also allows a 360-degree perspective of airport traffic.

Included BGL Files

KTUL_ADE_RS.BGL
Retains the default runway operation while applying refined edits.
KTUL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL
Activates crosswind capacity, enabling all three runways to function concurrently.
KTUL_ADE_OBJ.BGL
Supplies additional objects and enhancements for accurate ground details.

Installation Process

  1. Remove any previous versions of these files to avoid duplication or overwrite them directly. If you wish to keep older files, move them to a folder outside of your simulator directory.
  2. Choose either KTUL_ADE_RS.BGL or KTUL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL (but not both simultaneously) and place that file into your “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder within the Microsoft Flight Simulator X directory.
  3. Place KTUL_ADE_OBJ.BGL into the “Scenery/Global/scenery” folder of your simulator installation.
  4. Start the simulator to ensure the new airport layout is active.
  • Only keep one KTUL_RS.BGL file in the “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder at a time to prevent conflicts with parking or runway assignments.
  • Double-check any AI traffic add-ons for other AFCADs referencing this airport, as duplicate files may cause unexpected issues.
  • Note: When using KTUL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL, ATIS will mention virtual runways for crosswind operations. This is a normal side-effect of activating non-parallel runways. Use the default operation file if you prefer not to hear these fictitious runway calls.

Removal Instructions

  1. Delete or move the BGL files you added, restoring the simulator to its default version of KTUL.

Additional Viewpoint Tips

From tower view, consider assigning a keyboard or controller binding for “View track/pan Toggle” to unlock the camera from your aircraft. This function allows panning in all directions around the field. Simply press or toggle the assigned command again to revert to the user aircraft position.

Enjoy the enhanced functionality and improved realism at Tulsa International Airport. Happy flying!

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D AFCAD file
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place AFCAD file

AFCAD files (AF2_*.bgl or AFX_*.bgl) go into FSX\Addon Scenery\Scenery\ or a dedicated AFCAD folder you create.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
