FSX High Resolution Moon V2

High-resolution moon textures sharpen night skies with 512x512 BMP replacements for the default 64x64 images, plus a refined alpha channel for smoother lunar detail in FSX. MIP mapping enhancement reduces shimmering in normal and low-zoom views while keeping memory use efficient for consistent visuals.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

These are higher resolution images for the default moon textures. The default moons are 64X64 BMPs. I've replaced them with 512X512 BMPs, and replaced the Alpha channel with higher resolution images. By Roy Altholz.

Enhanced via MIP mapping by NickN. This cures "sparklies" when the moon is seen in normal views, like in low zoom views, and saves memory size when displaying the image.

FSX / P3D add-on

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
