This repaint set showcases American Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 featuring registration number N923NN and designed by Javier Cabrera. It is intended strictly for the payware iFly 737-800, developed by the iFly Development Team, which must be acquired separately. The enhanced textures recreate the carrier’s updated branding and incorporate detailed exterior artwork that highlights the airline’s modern tail design and fuselage color scheme. This solution is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X and those who appreciate authentic liveries will find it an excellent addition.

Technical Background

The Boeing 737-800 serves as one of the most widespread single-aisle jets in modern commercial aviation. Designed for efficiency, it has a two-crew flight deck and advanced avionics that align with real-world pilot demands. American Airlines operates this aircraft on numerous routes, leveraging its capacity for medium-range operations. The iFly Development Team’s payware product accurately models systems such as the Flight Management Computer (FMC) and autopilot functions, making it an ideal foundation for this repaint.

Installation Process and Configuration

This repaint package includes the necessary texture files optimized to pair with the iFly 737-800 base model. Ensure the base payware aircraft folder, distributed by the iFly Development Team, is correctly installed prior to adding these texture files. To streamline integration, follow the steps below.

  1. Locate the primary iFly 737-800 aircraft directory and duplicate all default texture components, except for those that come with this download.
  2. Place the newly provided texture folder (often labeled aa or similar) into the main aircraft directory.
  3. Add the subsequent section to the aircraft.cfg file, ensuring the “[fltsim.x]” index is incremented properly (the “x” in [fltsim.x] mirrors the next available sequential number).
  4. Match the “MyConfig=iFly738_x” entry to the same number used in [fltsim.x].

Note on Required Payware Model

This repaint is specifically tailored for the iFly 737-800 payware package. Users need to purchase the core aircraft model from a reputable source, such as the SimShack payware store, to benefit from this custom livery. The mod alone does not include the original aircraft model, as it is a separate commercial product.

By incorporating this American Airlines repaint, flight simulation enthusiasts can replicate a truly authentic experience that captures the look of a genuine Boeing 737-800 wearing the airline’s modern paint scheme. This project, crafted by Javier Cabrera, brings a level of detail and immersion well-suited to those who wish to replicate real-life operations within Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
