767 Rocking Out Of Control

Reworked flight dynamics tame the Captain Sim Boeing 767-200 and 767-300 by smoothing roll response and reducing turbulence-induced rocking. Updated .air files adjust aileron effectiveness and roll damping, matched with new moment-of-inertia values for steadier handling and a calmer virtual cockpit in FSX; requires the Captain Sim 767 package.

This will provide a stable, seizure free, Captain Sim Boeing 767. These .air files provide the same engine matrix but different aileron effectiveness and roll dampening values. Additionally a new set of Moment of Inertia values have been included to compliment the new .air file values. By RNJLabs Productions.

This is for the Captain Sim 763 & 762:

I have worked hard to eliminate the seizure this aircraft seems to inherent anytime there is turbulence or even if it is turning. The .AIR files have been modified - the aileron effectiveness and the roll dampening have been changed. A new moment of inertia has then also been created to support such changes.

Back up your old airfiles before copying the new ones. Also, remark the old inertia values before adding the new ones. This way if you would like to return to the profile which cannot fly more then three seconds without ripping it's yoke and wings off you may.

  • Replace the old .Air files with the .air files in the zip in the respected directories. Backup the originals first.

For the 763 here is the default captain sim directory.
Back up the originals first.
\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-300
Paste the b767-300ge.air, b767-300pw.air, and b767-300rr.air files that are in this zip file into that directory.

For the 762 here is the default captain sim directory.
Back up the originals first.
\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-200
Paste the b767-200ge.air and b767-200pw.air files that are in this zip file into that directory.

  • Open the Aircraft.cfg files in each directory and add the new moment of inertia values as shown below then close the files and save.

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]

;Moments of Inertia

empty_weight_roll_MOI = 5990045
empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 7163294
empty_weight_coupled_MOI= 1000

Enjoy some smoother flights.

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
