Expert Overview

EGEY Colonsay Airfield Scenery for X-Plane 11 brings this remote Scottish airport to life with carefully modeled structures and faithful terrain details. Its compact runway, situated a few miles from Scalasaig, offers a truly immersive approach experience, reflecting the real-world schedule of two weekly Hebridean Air Services flights. The use of BS2001, The Handy Object Library, MisterX, and OpenSceneryX ensures rich texture placement and accurate 3D assets designed to blend seamlessly into the beautiful island setting.

Created by developer Rene Bruun, this mod stands out for its authenticity and attention to regional nuances. As a seasoned flight sim enthusiast, I appreciate how it captures the quiet charm of Colonsay while still offering enough realism to keep each landing exciting. In my opinion, it’s a top-tier enhancement for flyers wanting to explore beyond the usual airfields.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

X-Plane scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy into Custom Scenery

Place the scenery folder into X-Plane 12/Custom Scenery/.
  3. Set scenery load order

X-Plane loads sceneries top-to-bottom from Custom Scenery/scenery_packs.ini. Custom airports should be ABOVE mesh and ortho-imagery.
  4. Restart X-Plane

Close X-Plane completely and relaunch. The new content loads automatically.
  5. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
