Expert Overview

The MSFS Bern Photogrammetry Scenery add-on takes you on an immersive aerial tour of one of Switzerland’s most historically rich cities. By integrating advanced photogrammetry and carefully preserving handcrafted architecture, it offers a remarkably detailed recreation of Bern’s old town, river Aare, and surrounding terrain. This update-ready mod leverages DEM corrections for smoother elevation and blends vegetation seamlessly around iconic landmarks, creating an authentic Swiss environment that feels both vibrant and true-to-life.

Seasoned sim pilots will appreciate how pinpoint GPS positioning and terrain refinements enhance the accuracy of flights across Bern’s cityscape. Larger airports like Bern Airport (LSZB) provide convenient access to explore the city’s photorealistic layout, while smaller fields such as Grenchen Airport (LSZG) offer a more intimate approach to its charming historic core. From my long experience in the flight simulation industry, I find this mod breathes life into Bern’s diverse architecture and scenic vistas, making it a delightful addition for virtual aviators seeking a more genuine Swiss flying adventure.

How to install this mod

MSFS scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Locate your MSFS Community folder

All MSFS add-ons live in the Community folder. Microsoft Store / Game Pass version: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\. Steam version: %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community\. Tip: enable Developer Mode in MSFS to see your exact Community folder path.
  3. Copy the scenery package into Community

Drag the extracted scenery folder into your Community folder. Photogrammetry and large mesh packs can be 1GB+ — ensure you have disk space.
  4. Restart MSFS

Close MSFS completely and relaunch. The new content appears in the Content Manager, on the World Map, or in the aircraft/livery selector.
