An FSX-native Boeing-Stearman Model 75 freeware aircraft add-on with a range of repaints (with more to come in this pack).

Boeing-Stearman Model 75 depicted in P3Dv5.​Originally based on a previous FS2004 model, this has been brought up to date as native FSX making it compatible with the latest versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator X (including Steam Edition) and all versions of Prepar3D including the latest (and fully tested in) P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 versions.  In fact, the video you see above was produced using this model in P3Dv5.

The Boeing-Stearman Model 75 is one of the most famous American biplanes ever to exist.  Taking its maiden flight in the '30s and having combat service with certain worldwide military regiments up until the 1960s - this aircraft has served well.

The pack features a fully functioning 3D VC (virtual cockpit), advanced external and internal animations along with over 8 repaints.

The Stearman Aircraft Company, started in 1927, was combined with Boeing in 1934. In the same year, the prototype Model 70 private-venture training biplane, designed by Harold Zipp and Jack Clark, was built. Some 61 were bought by the USN as Model 73s and the improved Model 75 appeared in 1936.

In total, 8,428 Model 75s had been built by 1945 when production ended. Used by the USAAF and the USN, as well as by other countries, the Model 75 had a variety of military designations: USAAF PT-13, PT-17, PT-18, and USN N2S-1 to N2S-5. The PT-27 was an enclosed cockpit version used by Canada.

All Kaydet versions were similar, differing mainly in the type of engine used.

Eagle Field Scenery

This pack even includes a bonus version of the Eagle Field (FAA LID: CL01) scenery which you can use to perform flights in and around using the aircraft.  Eagle Field was used for Stearman flight training back in the early days and many Stearman pilots learned how to fly this bird here.

Installation

Extract the archive and then copy the directory inside Simobjects/Airplanes/Stearman_FSX_Native into your FSX or P3D Simobjects/Airplanes folder.

Installation instructions are also included inside the archive; both for the aircraft and the additional Eagle Field scenery pack.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

I have tried everything you all recommend and I cannot get this or any package to work in FSX Steam addition. I have followed all directions from you and others on the internet. Nothing works. What could possibly be the problem?

    I've downloaded this package. I can get the model to load into fsx Steam Edition. However, the textures don't load. I've copy and pasted the folders into the correct locations. Am I doing something wrong, or is this package not compatible with FSX Steam? Thank you

    Hi. This is a super addon but unfortunately none of the controls are working ie: elevator, ailerons. I have tried both joystick & keyboard but nothing works. Throttle is working ok. I have FSX steam edition. Can you give any advice please. I would love to get this fully working. Kind regards. Bob

    Own a 1942 USAAF Stearman -Just had to have simulator version. Down loaded FSX verion in to FS 2004, works perfectly. Good job of software develoment.

    I just downloaded the FSX Stearman which I had purchased a while back and in the cockpit view there is a image problem at the windscreen area, there seem to be texture missing at that area. Is there a fix for that or am I doing something wrong? Thank you.
