SceneryPRO Releases Real Sandspit Scenery for Microsoft FS2004 and FSX

Posted on

SceneryPRO Software released Real Sandspit Scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and FSX in January 2010.  The add-on features Sandspit, a coastal airport in Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia.

Sandspit is one of the most well-liked but frequently forgotten airports in North America.  SceneryPRO Software has enhanced the beauty and scenery of this airport and surrounding area: a distinctive and meticulous terminal building; animated birds flying in the sky and Orca whales playfully splashing about in the nearby water are all featured in Real Sandspit Scenery. This release also includes Masset Municipal Airport which is situated 50 miles to the north. The add-on scenery software vividly captures Sandspit’s timeless magnificence.

Sandspit Airport is a popular stopover airfield – many pilots on a long trip from the mainland United States to Alaska choose Sandspit as a refuelling stop. There is more to Sandspit than just the airport. Sandspit is the biggest community on Moresby Island with a population of 538 persons according to the 2001 census report.

Sandspit is also the gateway to Canada’s Haida Gwaii, Galapagos and Queen Charlotte Islands. The area has a long history going back to an ancient Haida Village, Kil, which was located to the east of Haans Creek. Historical records and anecdotes indicate that the first settlers at Sandspit established ranches and farms around the grassy flats. However, today, there is little evidence of their homesteads and past presence.

Whether you are planning to do some sightseeing in the area or stop for fuel and a cup of coffee - Sandspit will delight you. Real Sandspit’s natural and stunning scenery; animated marine life and birds in flight will create an experience you will enjoy.

SceneryPro created Real Sandspit scenery based on a recent trip to the real world airport. As SceneryPRO explained: "We used nearly 600 photos taken from that trip along with satellite imagery to create the most realistic interpretation of the Sandspit area to date." The name ‘Real Sandspit’ rings true  –  SceneryPRO did an excellent job of creating accurate and authentic scenery which resembles the real world Sandspit airport, located in the rugged and beautiful part of Canada.

Reflection of abundant wildlife and tourist attractions create an ambiance which is appropriate to Sandspit and its location. Including several features outside the airport grounds provides a human feel to an area that is scantily populated.

There are two versions of Real Sandspit on offer: one for FSX and one for FS2004.

The minimum system requirements are:

  • Microsoft® Windows XP, Vista or Windows7
  • 2.0 Ghz PC with 512 Mb RAM and a 256 Mb AGP or PCI Express Video Card, or
PC capable or running FSX/FS2004 as per Microsoft ®requirements
  • Microsoft® Flight Simulator X or 2004 Installed
