Learn whether BeyondATC works in MSFS 2024 Career Mode, why ATC conflicts occur and the safest PC setup without losing progress.
BeyondATC can connect to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 during a Career Mode mission on a Windows PC, but it does not replace or integrate with Career Mode’s scripted ATC, objectives or scoring. Treat Career ATC as authoritative for progression; use BeyondATC only as a separate, non-authoritative layer, or use it in Free Flight.
What works in Career Mode?
BeyondATC can establish its normal PC simulator connection after a Career mission has loaded. It can read standard aircraft data and run a separate ATC session based on the flight plan supplied to BeyondATC.
Connection is not the same as Career integration. Career Mode remains in control of the mission script, required communications, checkpoints and grading described in our guide to Career Mode’s missions and progression.
| Feature | What happens in Career Mode |
|---|---|
| Simulator connection | BeyondATC can connect on a Windows PC through the normal simulator interface. |
| Flight plan | A matching route may need to be loaded separately; the Career mission does not automatically make BeyondATC its controller. |
| ATC instructions | BeyondATC and Career ATC can issue different taxi, runway, altitude or routing instructions. |
| Mission objectives | BeyondATC calls do not satisfy Career Mode’s scripted communication or checkpoint requirements. |
| Credits and reputation | BeyondATC does not award or deduct them directly, but following conflicting instructions can cause penalties or an incomplete mission. |
This distinction also applies to other third-party tools: something that works in Free Flight may not participate fully in a Career activity. Our breakdown of third-party add-on limits in Career Mode explains the broader restriction.
Why do BeyondATC and Career ATC conflict?
The two ATC systems make decisions independently because BeyondATC does not control the Career mission’s scripted triggers. A Career activity may expect a particular hold point, runway, altitude, waypoint or parking position while BeyondATC issues a clearance based on the route loaded into it.
The common mistake is following BeyondATC’s taxi or departure clearance while ignoring the Career objective displayed on screen. The flight may be perfectly reasonable from an ATC perspective, yet the mission can stop advancing because the expected checkpoint was never activated.
If either controller gives a plainly unsafe instruction, maintain control of the aircraft rather than obeying it blindly. We explain the causes and practical responses in our article on handling unsafe or unsuitable simulator ATC clearances.
How can you use BeyondATC without breaking a mission?
The safest approach is to make Career Mode the authority and treat BeyondATC as an optional source of additional radio traffic and phraseology.
- Load the Career mission first. Wait until the aircraft, route and mission objectives have loaded before connecting BeyondATC.
- Match the flight plans. Give BeyondATC the same origin, destination and routing where possible. Check runway and procedure differences rather than assuming both systems selected the same plan.
- Follow Career instructions when they disagree. Career Mode’s directions are the ones tied to mission completion, score, credits and reputation.
- Complete every scripted action. Observe required hold points, communication prompts, altitude restrictions and parking targets. Lowering ATC voice volume does not remove these requirements.
- Do not answer two controllers blindly. Contradictory taxi, take-off or landing clearances are a sign that BeyondATC should be treated as advisory or disconnected for that activity.
- Recover a stalled objective early. Return to the expected route, hold point or parking location and complete the displayed instruction. Disconnecting BeyondATC cannot retroactively activate a missed Career checkpoint; an unrecoverable activity may need to be restarted.
Can you use BeyondATC on Xbox or PlayStation?
No. BeyondATC is a separate Windows application, so it cannot be installed or run as an in-simulator add-on on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro. Console players must use the ATC supplied by MSFS 2024 and the Career mission.
This is different from a Marketplace aircraft or scenery package. Our guide to installing and managing MSFS 2024 add-ons on Xbox explains that platform boundary.
Should you use BeyondATC or Career Mode ATC?
Use Career ATC when completing missions and protecting your score; use BeyondATC in Free Flight when its independent ATC experience is the priority.
- Choose Career ATC for company flights, reputation building, credit earning and any mission where reliable objective completion matters.
- Choose BeyondATC in Free Flight when you want it to control the complete clearance, taxi, departure, en-route and arrival sequence without a competing mission script.
- Run both only with care when you accept that BeyondATC is supplementary and will defer to every Career objective if the instructions diverge.
