Yes, you can use some mods in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Career Mode on PC. Scenery, utilities and certain visual add-ons may load, but aircraft need explicit Career compatibility. Ordinary mods cannot reliably bypass certifications, missions or progression. Xbox and PlayStation 5 users are limited to compatible content distributed through the in-sim Marketplace.
The key distinction is that Career Mode does not treat every installed add-on as eligible career content. Which MSFS 2024 mods work in Career Mode?
Compatibility depends on what the mod changes and whether Career Mode needs to recognise it as part of a mission.

A Marketplace purchase is not automatic proof of Career support. Likewise, a package described as “MSFS 2024 compatible” may mean only that it loads in Free Flight. Look for an explicit reference to Career Mode compatibility.
Why doesn’t my add-on aircraft appear in Career Mode?
An add-on aircraft appears in Career only when the simulator supports that exact variant for an appropriate mission role and the package includes the necessary Career integration.
Your certifications, unlocked specialisations and the available aircraft market can also affect what appears. An older aircraft carried across from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 may fly correctly in Free Flight yet lack the configuration required by MSFS 2024 Career Mode.
Do not try to force an aircraft into Career by editing its package metadata. Even if that makes an entry visible, the aircraft may have incompatible payload stations, fuel logic, mission equipment or cockpit interactions. The usual result is a failed objective, an unusable spawn or a mission that never completes.
How do I test Career Mode mods safely?
Test each package individually before using it with an owned aircraft or a mission that could affect your credits and reputation.
- Establish a clean baseline. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with an empty or disabled
Communityfolder and confirm that the same Career mission works without add-ons. - Enable one package. Avoid testing a large collection at once. PC users with extensive libraries can follow our method for selectively enabling packages with MSFS Addons Linker.
- Try Free Flight first. Load the exact aircraft and airport involved. Check the parking position, avionics, controls, fuel system and loading time.
- Use a lower-risk Career mission. Where possible, test with an employee aircraft rather than putting a company-owned aircraft at risk. Reputation may still be affected by a failed mission.
- Restart after changes. Do not remove or replace active packages while the simulator is running; content is indexed during loading.
The symptom usually identifies the culprit. An aircraft missing only from Career lacks eligibility or remains locked. Spawning inside scenery points to an airport conflict. Cockpit instructions that do not advance often indicate modified aircraft systems, while a crash or endless loading screen calls for another test with the Community folder empty.
Can you use Career Mode mods on Xbox or PS5?
Not in the PC sense: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro do not expose a Community folder for arbitrary packages.

The practical rule is simple: use scenery and utility mods cautiously on PC, install aircraft for Career only when compatibility is stated explicitly, and assume an add-on is Free Flight-only when its documentation says nothing about Career Mode.
