Find which add-on aircraft work in MSFS 2024 Career Mode, how to verify exact variants, and why Free Flight compatibility is not enough.
Only add-on aircraft with explicit MSFS 2024 Career Mode integration work in Career. An aircraft that loads in Free Flight, is sold for MSFS 2024 or was migrated from MSFS 2020 is not automatically eligible. The exact variant must also match the mission, company, licence and specialisation requirements.
Which aircraft are actually Career-compatible?
The Career-compatible aircraft are the exact variants that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 exposes within your Career save. This can include edition aircraft, official content and third-party add-ons, but installation alone does not make any of them eligible.
The shortest reliable rule is this: if the exact variant appears in Career and is selectable—or locked behind a stated Career requirement—it has Career integration. If it appears only in Free Flight, it is not available for that Career role.

We would not treat any permanent model-by-model list as definitive. Package updates can add Career integration, and the available content can differ between PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. How can I check whether an add-on works in Career Mode?
The decisive test is to inspect the exact aircraft variant inside the appropriate Career company or mission category.
- Update and enable the package. Confirm that the simulator and aircraft package are fully updated and that no duplicate or older copy is also installed.
- Test it in Free Flight. If the aircraft is absent there, crashes while loading or has missing systems, solve that package problem before checking Career.
- Open the matching Career role. Search under the company and specialisation suited to the aircraft. A light cargo aeroplane may not appear while you are looking at passenger charter work.
- Check the exact variant. Do not assume that support for one model covers a freighter, floatplane or different engine version from the same family.
- Read the displayed restriction. A locked aircraft normally identifies a progression requirement. Review the licences, ratings and specialisations used to unlock Career aircraft before deciding that the add-on is incompatible.
Employee missions normally supply their own aircraft, so owning an add-on does not let you substitute it into any job. Freelance use requires the appropriate company and, where applicable, acquisition through Career’s economy. Buying the add-on itself does not place a free example in your Career fleet; Career aircraft ownership and maintenance are handled separately.
Why does an aircraft work in Free Flight but not Career?
Free Flight compatibility proves that MSFS 2024 can load the aircraft; it does not prove that Career can assign missions, progression and economic rules to it.
- No Career integration: the package contains what Free Flight needs but lacks support for Career roles and its economy.
- Wrong variant: Career recognises individual variants rather than an entire aircraft family.
- Unmet progression: the required certification, specialisation, reputation level or company has not been unlocked.
- Wrong mission context: an eligible aircraft may be hidden because the selected company or job category cannot use it.
- Separate ownership: owning the add-on package gives you access to its files, not automatic ownership of that aircraft inside a Career save.
- Package problem: an outdated, disabled or duplicated installation can prevent Career from recognising a variant. Update it, remove duplicate package copies and restart the simulator.
A Marketplace purchase does not guarantee Career support, and a PC aircraft placed in the Community folder is not automatically admitted either. Look for an explicit Career Mode compatibility statement for the exact package version, then confirm it inside the simulator.
Can I force an unsupported aircraft into Career Mode?
No reliable configuration edit can turn a Free Flight-only aircraft into a fully supported Career aircraft. Renaming variants or altering local role tags does not supply the mission, progression, ownership and economic integration that Career expects, and package edits may instead cause loading errors.
