Earn credits in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Career Mode by finishing paid Career missions. Employee missions give a smaller, expense-free wage; freelance company missions pay much more, but you fund fuel, maintenance, repairs and other operating costs. Mission bonuses, efficient specialisations and crewed spare aircraft can increase your balance over time.

Paid missions and company operations are the dependable sources of Career credits; Free Flight and other non-Career activities do not add to this balance.

Selling an aircraft merely converts an existing asset back into credits, usually at a loss; it is not a reliable income method. XP and reputation are separate progression systems and cannot be converted into credits. What is the fastest reliable way to earn credits?
The safest route is to use employee work to unlock one profitable specialisation, then move into company missions without spending your entire balance on the aircraft.
- Complete employee missions first. They build credits and reputation without exposing you to repair bills on an owned aircraft.
- Choose a target specialisation. Check its prerequisites and pay only for the certifications needed to reach it. Buying every available qualification slows company progression.
- Compare payout with flight time. A shorter mission can produce more credits per hour than a large advertised reward involving a long cruise, difficult airport or costly aircraft transfer.
- Start a matching company. Wait until you can afford the company setup, suitable aircraft, fuel and a repair reserve. A company mission's large gross payout is not pure profit.
- Protect the introductory aircraft. If Career offers a heavily discounted starter aircraft, do not sell it casually. Its replacement may cost far more than the sale returns.
- Reinvest selectively. Repair airworthiness problems, build a cash reserve and add another aircraft only when the available mission supply supports it.
There is no permanent best-paying mission type. Mission availability and rewards can be rebalanced by simulator updates, while aircraft condition, route length and transfer costs change the real profit from one job to another.
How do you keep more of each mission payout?
Finish every objective cleanly and judge company work by net profit rather than the headline reward.
- Avoid skipping mission phases. Skipping or using recovery options can forfeit associated completion bonuses, making a long job much less valuable.
- Follow the final objective. Taxi to the assigned position, set the parking brake and shut down when requested. Leaving before the mission-complete and reward screens can prevent a normal payout.
- Prevent aircraft damage. A hard landing, propeller strike or neglected component can consume the profit from several freelance missions.

- Include repositioning costs. A distant high-value mission may be worse than a nearby lower-paying one once aircraft transfer and operating costs are counted.
A mistake we see constantly is treating the freelance reward as spendable profit. Keep part of every company payout untouched for fuel and maintenance; reaching a zero balance with an unserviceable aircraft can halt progression.
Can crews earn credits while you are not flying?
Yes, an owned company aircraft with its crew option enabled can generate passive Career income when you are not flying that aircraft yourself.
Passive earnings are better treated as supplementary income than a guaranteed daily wage. Their timing and amount depend on the simulator's Career calculations and can change with mission-system updates. Buying a second aircraft solely on an optimistic passive-income estimate is riskier than expanding from completed freelance profits.
Why did a Career mission pay less or award nothing?
A reduced or missing payout usually comes from an incomplete objective, a failed mission, lost bonuses, company expenses or an online-profile synchronisation problem.
- Review the results screen to separate the base reward from performance and completion bonuses.
- Confirm that the mission actually reached its completion state rather than remaining on a parking, shutdown or handbrake objective.
- Check whether a skip, restart, recovery action or mission failure removed a bonus.
- For company flights, compare the reward with fuel, maintenance, repair and aircraft-transfer spending.
- If the completed reward does not reach the Career balance, allow the online profile to synchronise and restart the simulator before repeating purchases or selling aircraft.
Career Mode depends on online services, and patches also correct mission and reward faults. If results differ from expected behaviour, first check that MSFS 2024 is fully updated. Career credits remain separate from Marketplace purchases, so buying add-ons does not increase the Career balance.
