How many people and how much cargo can a Cessna 206 carry?
A Cessna 206 can have six seats, but it cannot necessarily carry six adults, their baggage and full fuel at the same time. The deciding figure is the individual aircraft’s weight-and-balance data, not the number of installed seats.
Useful load includes occupants, baggage, usable fuel and removable equipment. Payload is what remains after accounting for the fuel required for the flight. Empty weight varies with model year, avionics, floats, large tyres and other modifications, so published figures from another 206 are not safe planning data.

- Add every occupant and item of baggage at the correct seating or baggage station.
- Add the planned fuel, allowing for taxi, trip, reserve and operational requirements.

Is the Cessna 206 a STOL or bush plane?
The Cessna 206 is an effective bush aeroplane, but a standard aircraft should not be treated as a dedicated STOL machine.
Its power, high wing, sturdy fixed gear and useful load make it well suited to remote strips. Actual take-off and landing performance still depends on weight, density altitude, wind, runway gradient, surface condition, obstacles, tyres and pilot technique. Large tyres, vortex generators and other approved modifications can change handling or performance, but the applicable supplements must be used.
A turbocharged 206 is generally the better choice for sustained operation at higher density altitudes because it maintains engine power better as altitude increases. The turbo does not cancel the effects of thin air on the wing, propeller or runway requirement, and the letter T denotes a turbocharged piston engine—not a turboprop.

What should simulator pilots expect from a Cessna 206?
A convincing simulated 206 should feel heavier and more powerful than a Cessna 172, with greater inertia and a stronger need for accurate pitch trim and speed control.
Approach speeds, flap limits and loading should come from the documentation for the represented variant, not from a generic Cessna checklist. A heavily loaded Stationair will accelerate, climb and stop differently from a lightly loaded example, while floats or bush equipment add further drag and weight.
