Can I use CH pedals with a Saitek yoke and throttle?

Yes. For general PC flight simulation, USB CH rudder pedals can be used alongside a Saitek/Logitech yoke and throttle quadrant in most simulators. Each appears as a separate controller: assign pitch and roll to the yoke, engine axes to the quadrant, and rudder plus toe brakes to the pedals.

The brands do not need to match. Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX, X-Plane and Prepar3D read the controls independently, then combine their inputs through the simulator's control assignments.

How do I connect CH pedals to a Saitek yoke setup?

  1. Connect the throttle quadrant correctly. The quadrant supplied with the classic Saitek yoke plugs into the dedicated socket on the yoke; it is not a USB connection. A separately sold USB quadrant connects directly to the computer or a powered USB hub.
  2. Connect the CH pedals separately. Plug USB CH Pro Pedals directly into the PC during initial setup rather than using an unpowered hub.
  3. Test every controller in Windows. Run joy.cpl, select each device in turn and check that its axes move smoothly. The pedals should show one rudder axis and two independent toe-brake axes.
  4. Clear unwanted default assignments. In the simulator's controls screen, inspect the yoke, quadrant, pedals and any connected gamepad separately. Remove duplicate rudder, brake, throttle, pitch and roll assignments.
  5. Assign the axes. Bind the yoke to pitch and roll, the quadrant to the required engine controls, and the pedals to rudder or yaw plus left and right brake axes.
  6. Calibrate and test. Centre the pedals before calibration, add only enough dead zone to stop unwanted movement, then test steering and braking from an external view or cockpit control indicator.

Why are the rudder or toe brakes behaving incorrectly?

Incorrect movement nearly always comes from reversed brake axes, duplicate bindings or calibration rather than mixed brands.

  • Brakes remain applied: reverse each toe-brake axis individually. Many simulators interpret the pedal's released position as maximum input until the axis is reversed.
  • Rudder moves by itself: recalibrate the pedals and add a small central dead zone if the axis is noisy.
  • Aircraft steers or brakes unexpectedly: inspect every connected controller. A gamepad trigger or another joystick may have received an automatic rudder or brake assignment.
  • Pedals fight the simulator: disable auto-rudder or assisted steering after confirming the physical pedals work.
  • Inputs disappear intermittently: try a direct motherboard USB port, remove unnecessary hubs and retest in joy.cpl.

Do CH and Saitek controls need matching software?

No matching control software is required because the simulator reads each USB device independently. Start with Windows detection and the simulator's own bindings; install manufacturer software only when a device feature or driver genuinely requires it.

Combining the controls into one virtual device is unnecessary for modern simulators and can make fault-finding harder. Older CH pedals with a gameport connector are a different case: a passive USB adaptor may not expose the rudder and both toe-brake axes correctly.

Will this mixed-brand setup work on consoles?

Console compatibility is not guaranteed. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 simulators recognise only hardware supported by that simulator and platform, so a USB controller that works on Windows may be ignored. Treat CH pedals with a Saitek yoke as a PC setup unless the exact console simulator lists both devices as compatible.
