Find ATR liveries for MSFS 2020 and 2024, choose the correct ATR 42/72 package, install it on PC, and fix repaints that do not appear.
Download ATR liveries for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 from our MSFS mods library, but choose a repaint made for your exact ATR aircraft package and variant. Web-downloaded liveries install only on PC; Xbox and PlayStation users cannot add Community-folder files and must use simulator-distributed content.
Finding the correct ATR repaint
Start in our Microsoft Flight Simulator mods library and search for terms such as ATR 42, ATR 72, the aircraft variant and the operator. Check the download description before installing anything: it should explicitly identify MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 or both.
A mistake we see constantly is choosing a repaint solely because the title says “ATR 72”. An ATR 72-600 livery will not necessarily fit an ATR 72-500, and two add-ons representing the same variant may use completely different models, texture maps and folder structures.
Older simulator files are also incompatible. For example, this ATR 72 pack marked for FSX and Prepar3D is not an MSFS livery pack and cannot be installed by placing it in the MSFS Community folder.
Which ATR livery package do I need?
Choose the repaint that matches all four of these details:
- Simulator: MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 or an explicitly stated dual-compatible release.
- Base aircraft: the exact Microsoft-published, freeware or third-party ATR package named by the repaint author.
- Variant: ATR 42 versus ATR 72, including the correct sub-variant where specified.
- Dependency: any required base-aircraft update or additional package listed in the description.
A livery contains paint textures and configuration data, not the flyable aircraft. If the required ATR is not installed and enabled, downloading its repaint will not add that aircraft to the selector.
Do MSFS 2020 ATR liveries work in MSFS 2024?
Some MSFS 2020 ATR liveries work in MSFS 2024, but compatibility is not automatic. The same base aircraft must be available in both simulators, and its model, texture mapping, package dependencies and configuration references must remain compatible.
Prefer a download whose description explicitly names MSFS 2024. Our explanation of MSFS 2020 livery compatibility in MSFS 2024 covers the checks to make before reusing an older package.
Can console players install downloaded ATR liveries?
Community-folder ATR repaints are limited to PC because consoles do not provide access to the required package directory.
| Platform | Install downloaded livery files? |
|---|---|
| PC, MSFS 2020 or 2024 | Yes, through the Community folder |
| Xbox Series X|S | No; use content distributed inside the simulator |
| PS5 or PS5 Pro | No; MSFS 2024 only, using simulator-distributed content |
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was not released for PlayStation, so any ATR livery advertised for “MSFS 2020 PS5” is incorrectly labelled.
How do I install an ATR livery on PC?
- Extract the download. Do not leave the livery inside its ZIP or RAR archive.
- Find the actual package folder. It should normally contain files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. Remove unnecessary outer folders created during extraction. - Move that package into Community. The Community-folder location varies with the simulator version and installation method; use our complete PC livery installation procedure if you need to locate it.
- Restart the simulator. Select the correct ATR aircraft and choose the repaint from its livery or variation selector.
Do not merge a repaint into the base aircraft or overwrite the aircraft’s original textures. Keeping each livery as a separate Community package makes updates and fault-finding much safer.
Why is my ATR livery not showing?
- No livery appears: check for an extra nested folder and confirm that the package containing
manifest.jsonis inside Community. - The ATR itself is missing: install or enable the required base aircraft; the repaint does not include it.
- Only another ATR variant shows the paint: the download targets a different ATR 42 or ATR 72 model.
- Textures are pink, blank or misplaced: the repaint is incomplete or uses incompatible texture references. Reinstall a release made for that exact aircraft rather than copying random texture files.
- The simulator hangs or behaves erratically: remove duplicate or older copies of the livery, then test the base ATR without the repaint.
