Why is the FSX Airbus A220 listed as a Bombardier CS300?
The Airbus A220-300 is the renamed Bombardier CS300, so older FSX downloads are usually catalogued under CSeries or CS300. The smaller CS100 became the A220-100, while the CS300 became the A220-300.
This also affects the FSX aircraft selector. Look under Bombardier, CSeries, CS300 or BD500 if searching for Airbus or A220 produces no result. Older liveries and documentation may retain the original Bombardier branding even though the model represents the A220-300 airframe.

Both downloads represent the A220-300 lineage, not the shorter A220-100. They are FSX-era freeware rather than study-level A220 simulations, so check the package documentation before assuming that every modern avionics or fly-by-wire function is reproduced.
Will these A220 add-ons work in FSX: Steam Edition?
Both packages are built for FSX, and Steam Edition normally accepts the same aircraft-folder structure as boxed FSX. Compatibility can still be affected by an old installer, legacy gauges or an installation path pointing to the wrong copy of the simulator.
If boxed FSX and Steam Edition are installed together, confirm that the aircraft is going into the Steam installation you actually launch. A manual installation is often clearer because you can see exactly where each folder is being placed.
How do I install the Airbus A220 in FSX?
Install the A220 by extracting the download first, identifying the actual aircraft folder and placing that folder inside SimObjects/Airplanes in the correct FSX installation.
- Extract the archive outside FSX. Do not run the aircraft directly from the compressed download.
- Read the included instructions. Package layouts differ, particularly when separate gauges or effects are supplied.
- Find the aircraft folder. It should contain an
aircraft.cfgfile and usually folders for the model, panel, sound and textures. - Copy that aircraft folder into
SimObjects/Airplanes. If the archive provides separate Effects or Gauges folders, merge those into the matching FSX folders only as directed by the documentation. - Restart FSX and search the aircraft selector under Bombardier, CSeries, CS300 or BD500. Remove restrictive manufacturer or publisher filters if necessary.
If the aircraft does not appear, the usual cause is an extra level of folders. FSX must be able to reach aircraft.cfg directly inside the aircraft's folder under SimObjects/Airplanes; it will not find a model buried inside a second identically named wrapper folder.
- Missing aircraft: correct the nested folder structure and verify that you used the active FSX installation.
- Aircraft listed under the wrong maker: search for Bombardier or CS300 rather than Airbus A220.
- Blank panel or missing effects: return to the archive and install any separately supplied gauges or effects according to its instructions.
- Duplicate aircraft-title warning: this can happen after installing overlapping versions. Keep one package, or back up
aircraft.cfgbefore assigning unique titles to the affected variations.
