Is FlightGear more realistic than FSX?
Neither simulator is automatically more realistic; the individual aircraft model determines most of the result. Which runs better on an older PC?
FSX has lighter basic graphics, but its age does not guarantee better performance on modern hardware. It is heavily dependent on processor performance, and high autogen, AI traffic or complex cockpit gauges can reduce frame rates even when the graphics card is barely occupied.
FlightGear performance depends heavily on the selected aircraft, clouds, shadows, anti-aliasing and scenery. Reducing one setting group at a time gives a much clearer diagnosis than moving every slider to minimum. What common problems should you expect?

Can FSX add-ons be used in FlightGear?
