Get MSFS 2024 mods from the Marketplace, install them through My Library, understand platform limits and fix add-ons that do not appear.
Yes. The in-simulator Marketplace in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 offers compatible add-ons, including aircraft, airports, scenery and liveries; some are paid and some are free. Marketplace content is managed through My Library. On Xbox and PS5, it is the supported route for adding third-party content.
What counts as an MSFS 2024 Marketplace mod?
Marketplace “mods” are more accurately called add-ons: content submitted for distribution through Microsoft Flight Simulator's built-in store. The catalogue includes products from Microsoft and third-party developers.
This is different from a PC mod downloaded as a package and placed in the Community folder. Our explanation of Marketplace add-ons versus manually installed PC mods covers that distinction in more detail.
| Feature | Marketplace add-on | Community-folder mod |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 when supported by the listing | PC only |
| Management | Handled through Marketplace and My Library | Copied to and removed from the Community folder manually |
| Updates | Delivered through the simulator | Usually downloaded and installed manually |
| Selection | Curated catalogue | Broader range of freeware and specialist modifications |
How do I install Marketplace add-ons in MSFS 2024?
Acquire the add-on in the Marketplace, then use My Library to confirm that it is owned, enabled and available to the simulator.
- Open Marketplace from the MSFS 2024 interface while signed into the account you use for the simulator.
- Check the listing for MSFS 2024 and platform compatibility, required dependencies and any limits on supported game modes.
- Acquire the add-on, either by purchasing it or claiming it if it is free or included with your edition.
- Open My Library and find the product. Follow the available control to install, enable or otherwise make it available; MSFS 2024 may stream or locally store content depending on its content handling and your settings.
- Reload the relevant aircraft or flight if the add-on does not appear immediately. A simulator restart can also clear a stalled content refresh.
Do not copy Marketplace packages into the Community folder. They are licensed and managed by the simulator, so they may not appear there as ordinary files.
Can Xbox and PS5 use Marketplace mods?
Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro can use compatible Marketplace add-ons, but they cannot install ordinary PC Community-folder packages.
Console availability is decided per product, so an add-on sold on PC is not automatically offered on every console. Xbox users can follow our steps for acquiring and managing Marketplace content on Xbox; PlayStation users should use the PS5 Marketplace controls and library guidance.
Why is my Marketplace add-on not showing?
A missing Marketplace add-on is usually caused by its library state, an active filter, account entitlement or platform compatibility rather than the Community folder.
- Search My Library: Clear filters and search for the exact product name. Confirm that it is owned and enabled rather than merely displayed in the catalogue.
- Check for an update: An aircraft, airport or dependency may need an updated package before it loads correctly.
- Confirm the account: Use the same relevant account and store context through which the content was acquired. Entitlements can differ between platforms.
- Verify the simulator version: Owning an MSFS 2020 product does not always guarantee a compatible MSFS 2024 build or a free entitlement to it.
- Check dependencies: A livery may require a particular aircraft, while an enhancement may require the base airport or aircraft package.
- Check the game mode: Marketplace availability does not guarantee Career Mode support. Some aircraft and modifications are intended for Free Flight only.
Likewise, buying an add-on outside the simulator does not automatically add it to My Library, and a Marketplace purchase does not provide a conventional external installer. On PC, choose the Marketplace when you want simulator-managed content; choose a Community-folder mod when the add-on is distributed as a conventional PC package and you are prepared to manage updates yourself.
