How do you install Nexus Mods in MSFS 2024?
Most conventional aircraft, livery and scenery packages must be downloaded, extracted and placed in the active MSFS 2024 Community folder manually.

- Check the target simulator. Confirm that the download explicitly supports Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. If it mentions only MSFS 2020, treat compatibility as unconfirmed and check its aircraft, library and version requirements.
- Extract the archive. Do not put a compressed ZIP, RAR or 7z archive directly into Community. Extract it with a tool that supports the archive format.
- Identify the package root. A standard package folder normally contains
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. The correct structure isCommunity\package-name\manifest.json, notCommunity\package-name\package-name\manifest.json. That extra nested folder is a mistake we see constantly. - Find the active Community folder. Do not guess its location: it varies with the PC distribution and any custom packages path, and users with both simulators can easily select the MSFS 2020 folder by mistake. - Install with the simulator closed. Copy the package-root folder into Community, launch MSFS 2024 and test the add-on. Add several downloads only after each one has worked independently.

Never place third-party packages in official-content or streamed-content directories unless the download is specifically a file replacement and provides precise instructions.
A one-click mod manager is safe to use only if it explicitly supports MSFS 2024 and is pointed at the active 2024 Community folder. A profile configured for MSFS 2020 may deploy the files successfully—but into the wrong simulator.
Do MSFS 2020 Nexus mods work in MSFS 2024?
Some MSFS 2020 packages work in MSFS 2024, but the source site and Community-folder format do not guarantee compatibility.
- Better candidates: straightforward liveries and scenery packages that use assets and dependencies available in MSFS 2024.
- Higher-risk candidates: aircraft systems, avionics modifications, compiled modules, camera or configuration changes, and anything tied to the internal structure of a particular MSFS 2020 aircraft.
- Avoid blind migration: do not copy the entire MSFS 2020 Community folder into MSFS 2024. Move one package at a time and test it.

Why is a Nexus mod not showing in MSFS 2024?
A Nexus mod that does not appear is usually in the wrong Community folder, one directory too deep, still compressed or incompatible with MSFS 2024.
- Remove the new package and confirm that the simulator still starts normally.
- Recheck the active packages path, especially if MSFS 2020 is also installed or the storage location has been changed.
- Inspect the directory depth and make sure the folder directly inside Community contains the package files.
- Start in Normal Mode if the simulator offers Safe Mode after a crash, because Safe Mode disables third-party Community content.
- Check dependencies listed by the mod. A livery, aircraft enhancement or scenery object package may do nothing without its required base aircraft or library.
- Test for conflicts by temporarily moving other Community packages elsewhere. Two packages modifying the same airport, aircraft or system may override or disrupt one another.
If the download is an executable utility, preset or direct file replacement, it will not work merely because it was copied into Community. Follow its supplied instructions and back up any file it replaces.
Can Xbox and PlayStation use Nexus Mods?
No. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro does not provide access to a Community folder for manually downloaded PC packages. Console users are limited to content delivered through the simulator and its in-simulator Marketplace; copying a Nexus download by USB is not a workaround.
Safe installation rules
Community-folder packages are generally easy to remove, but executable tools and base-file replacements require more care.
- Scan downloaded archives and inspect their contents before running executable files.
- Keep third-party packages out of official and streamed-content directories.
- Back up configuration files before replacing or editing them.
- Keep track of what each package changes so it can be removed after a simulator update or when troubleshooting.
- To uninstall a standard package, close the simulator and remove that package’s folder from Community; external utilities may have their own uninstall process.
