Learn which MSFS 2024 mods work on GeForce NOW, why Community-folder add-ons fail, and when Marketplace content can still be used.
You generally cannot use manually downloaded Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 mods on GeForce NOW. The cloud PC does not expose or preserve the simulator’s Community folder, so aircraft, scenery and utilities cannot be copied into it. Only content installed through supported in-simulator systems, mainly Marketplace items tied to your account, may work.

Which MSFS 2024 add-ons work on GeForce NOW?
Only add-ons that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 can authorise and deliver without access to the cloud PC’s Windows file system are practical on GeForce NOW.

Why does the Community folder method fail?
The Community-folder method fails because GeForce NOW runs MSFS 2024 on a managed remote computer rather than on your own Windows installation. Its game directories are not exposed through File Explorer, and files saved on your local computer do not appear inside that remote session.
Launching the Steam or Xbox PC version does not change this. Cloud saves can synchronise supported profile data, but they do not upload Community packages. Enabling Developer Mode, using an add-on linker or placing a ZIP archive in cloud storage will not unlock the host file system.

Can Marketplace add-ons work between cloud sessions?
Marketplace add-ons can work on GeForce NOW when the simulator recognises the entitlement and can stream or install the package through its own content system.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft/Xbox profile that owns the Marketplace item.
- Confirm that the add-on supports Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024; owning an MSFS 2020 version does not automatically guarantee compatibility.
- Avoid products requiring an external installer, licence manager or companion executable.
- Do not assume locally cached package data will remain available between GeForce NOW sessions. The service controls the remote storage.
A common mistake is treating “shown in My Library” as meaning “installed and usable”. The entry proves that the account knows about the item; the package must still be compatible and obtainable within the cloud session.
What should you use if MSFS 2024 mods are essential?
Use a local Windows installation of MSFS 2024 if freeware aircraft, custom scenery, liveries or external utilities are an essential part of your setup.
- Choose GeForce NOW when you primarily want the standard simulator and compatible Marketplace content without maintaining a gaming PC.
- Choose a local PC when you need unrestricted Community-folder access, external programs or add-on management tools.
