You can use MSFS 2024 mods on PS5 only in one supported way. See what works, what does not, and how to fix add-ons that fail to appear.
Yes, but only through add-ons approved for the in-game Marketplace. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5 does not expose the PC Community folder, so you cannot manually install freeware, Nexus packages, scripts or other downloaded mods. Marketplace aircraft, scenery and liveries work only when the product is compatible with PlayStation.
Which MSFS 2024 mods work on PS5?
On PS5, “mods” effectively means Marketplace add-ons managed by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The same restriction applies to PS5 Pro; its extra performance does not unlock PC-style file access.
| Content type | Works on PS5? | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace aircraft, scenery and liveries | Yes | The product must be offered for PlayStation and managed through the simulator. |
| Downloaded ZIP or package files | No | PS5 has no user-accessible Community folder. |
| Nexus Mods packages | No | Files downloaded outside the simulator cannot be imported into the PS5 edition. |
| PC executables, injectors and scripts | No | Console software cannot run PC companion programs or inject files into the simulator. |
An aircraft or airport being available on PC does not guarantee a PS5 release. Publishers must make their products available for the PlayStation version, and technically unsuitable add-ons may remain PC-only.
How do you install MSFS 2024 add-ons on PS5?
Use the Marketplace and the simulator’s own content-management controls; do not download a ZIP file or attempt to copy packages from a USB drive.
- Open the in-game Marketplace while signed into the profile used for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Check PlayStation compatibility on the product listing, along with any required aircraft, edition or other dependency.
- Acquire the add-on and follow the Marketplace prompts. Content may be downloaded, streamed or otherwise managed by the simulator.
- Confirm that it is available in your library before looking for the aircraft, livery or scenery in the appropriate selection screen.
- Test it in Free Flight first. Availability there does not automatically mean it can be used in Career Mode.
Our guide to finding, installing and managing PS5 Marketplace add-ons covers the supported process in more detail.
Why do PC mod instructions not work on PS5?
PC guides rely on access to the Community folder, which the PS5 version does not provide. That folder is where PC users place manually downloaded aircraft, scenery and other packages; the PC mod installation method cannot be transferred to PlayStation.
A common mistake is to download a package on another device and expect the PS5 to recognise it from external storage. It will not. The same limitation applies to Nexus Mods and other manually installed packages.
Also check which simulator an older guide covers. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was never released on PlayStation, so any PS5 instructions claiming to install its Community-folder mods are incorrect.
Why is my PS5 add-on not appearing?
A missing add-on is usually caused by compatibility, entitlement or content-management status rather than an incorrect folder.
- No PlayStation version: the product may exist on PC or Xbox but not be approved for PS5.
- Different signed-in profile: confirm that the simulator is using the account associated with the entitlement.
- Installation or delivery is incomplete: inspect the built-in library controls, allow any pending content to finish and check available storage.
- A dependency is missing: some liveries or expansions require a particular base aircraft or simulator edition.
- The simulator needs refreshing: complete any game or content update, then restart the simulator if prompted.
- Career Mode is restricting it: test the same content in Free Flight before assuming the installation failed.
Do PS5 mods work in Career Mode?
Not every Marketplace add-on can be used throughout Career Mode. An aircraft may work in Free Flight yet remain unavailable for career missions because it lacks career integration or does not meet the relevant mission, certification or ownership requirements.
Check our explanation of how add-ons interact with MSFS 2024 Career Mode before buying content specifically for career use. For unrestricted flying with a compatible Marketplace aircraft, Free Flight is usually the safer choice.
