How do I install the FlyByWire A380X in MSFS?

To install the FlyByWire A380X in Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC, close the simulator, use the official FlyByWire Installer, select the correct MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 profile, verify its Community folder, then install the A380X channel available. Restart the simulator and select the aircraft from the aircraft list.

FlyByWire A380X installation steps

The supported route is the FlyByWire Installer, not manual archive extraction.

1. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator. Installing while the simulator is running can leave files locked or prevent the new aircraft from being detected until another restart.
2. Obtain the official FlyByWire Installer. Avoid repacked A380X archives: they can be outdated, incomplete or arranged with the wrong folder structure.
3. Select the simulator target. Make sure the installer is targeting the edition you actually launch—Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This matters if both are installed on the same PC.
4. Verify the package location. Check that the detected Community folder belongs to the selected simulator installation. Microsoft Store, Steam and custom installations can use different paths. 5. Open the A380X aircraft entry. Choose the recommended channel offered for your simulator profile, then start the installation.
6. Let the installation finish completely. Keep enough free space for both the download and extraction, and do not move or rename the package or link created by the installer.
7. Launch MSFS normally. Open the aircraft selection screen, show all aircraft if a filter is active, and search for A380X, FlyByWire or Airbus.

The A380X does not require the FlyByWire A32NX to be installed. Any shared components needed by the aircraft should be managed by the installer rather than copied manually.

Which A380X channel should I choose?

Choose the recommended or stable A380X channel when it is offered; use a development channel only when you need a specific newer fix or no stable option is available.

• Recommended or stable: the sensible choice for routine flying, with fewer disruptive changes.
• Development: receives fixes and changes sooner, but updates more often and may introduce faults.
• Experimental: use only when the developer specifically directs users to test a feature or workaround.

The labels available can change as the aircraft matures. A channel is also separate from the simulator target: selecting a development build does not turn an MSFS 2020 package into an MSFS 2024 package.

Why is the FlyByWire A380X not showing in MSFS?

An absent A380X usually means the installer targeted the wrong simulator profile, the Community path is incorrect, or another copy is conflicting with it.

• Wrong simulator selected: reopen the installer and confirm whether it is managing MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024.
• Wrong Community folder: check the active packages path rather than assuming the default Windows location.
• Safe Mode is active: start MSFS in Normal Mode, because Safe Mode suppresses third-party Community packages.
• Duplicate installation: remove verified old manual copies before reinstalling through the installer. Do not leave two A380X package folders active.
• Incomplete download: use the installer's repair or reinstall function after checking free space, folder permissions and security software.
• Aircraft filters are hiding it: reset the aircraft-list filters and search by the model or developer name.

First-load delays and blank cockpit screens

The first A380X load can take longer while Microsoft Flight Simulator prepares aircraft systems, gauges and cached data. Allow that initial load to finish rather than repeatedly terminating the simulator.

If the cockpit remains unusable on later loads, update the aircraft, then test with unrelated Community add-ons temporarily removed. Leave the A380X and any installer-managed dependencies in place. If it works alone, restore the other add-ons in small groups until the conflict returns.

Can I install the FlyByWire A380X on Xbox or PS5?

No. The FlyByWire A380X is an external PC package and cannot be side-loaded on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro.

How do I update the A380X and install liveries?

Update or remove the A380X through the same FlyByWire Installer and keep the simulator closed while files are changed.
