How do I install the FlyByWire A380X in MSFS?

Where do I get the FlyByWire Installer?

Download the Installer only through FlyByWire's official distribution. The names FlyByWire Installer, Fly By Wire Installer and FBW Installer all refer to the same desktop application.

Avoid mirrored installer executables, repacked aircraft and unofficial standalone archives. They may be outdated, incomplete or arranged incorrectly, and the FBW Installer may be unable to update or repair them.

FlyByWire A380X installation steps

The supported method is to let the FlyByWire Installer download the aircraft and manage its connection to the active Community folder.

1. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator. Installing or updating while MSFS is running can leave files locked or only partly replaced.
2. Open the official FBW Installer. Complete any installer update it offers before selecting an aircraft.
3. Select the correct simulator. Choose MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 according to the Windows PC version you intend to launch. Treat them as separate installations even when both are on the same computer.
4. Verify the Community folder. Microsoft Store, Xbox app, Steam and customised installations can use different locations. Check the path shown by the Installer rather than assuming the default Windows path is active.
5. Select the A380X. Install the channel displayed for the chosen simulator profile. Do not force a package intended for the other MSFS version.
6. Let the process finish. Keep enough free storage for both the download and temporary extraction data. Do not move, rename or merge the resulting aircraft folder or installer-managed link.
7. Start MSFS in Normal Mode. Open the aircraft selector, clear restrictive filters and search for A380X, FlyByWire or Airbus.

A mistake we see constantly is selecting the correct aircraft but the wrong Community folder. This is especially common after installing MSFS 2024 alongside MSFS 2020, moving the simulator's packages or changing the content location.

Should I select MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024?

Choose the Installer profile for the exact simulator in which you want to fly, because MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 can have separate Community folders and aircraft packages.

How do I install the FlyByWire A380 in MSFS 2024?

Select the MSFS 2024 profile in the FlyByWire Installer, confirm that it points to MSFS 2024's active Community folder, and install only an A380X channel offered under that profile.

Which A380X channel should I install?

Use the recommended or stable channel when the Installer offers one, unless you need a particular correction available only in a newer development build.

• Recommended or stable: the sensible default for routine flying, with changes introduced more cautiously.
• Development: choose this when it is the available supported option for your simulator or when you need one of its newer fixes. Updates are more frequent and faults are more likely.
• Experimental: use this only when FlyByWire directs users to test a specific feature or workaround.

Channel names and availability can change. The channel and simulator target are separate choices: selecting a development build under MSFS 2020 does not make it an MSFS 2024 package.

Do I need the A32NX or SimBridge for the A380X?

The A380X does not require the FlyByWire A32NX, and SimBridge is not required merely to install and fly the base aircraft.

Why is the FlyByWire A380X not showing in MSFS?

An A380X marked as installed but missing from Microsoft Flight Simulator usually means the wrong simulator profile or Community folder is selected, MSFS is in Safe Mode, or an old manual copy is conflicting with the installer-managed package.

1. Confirm the simulator profile. Reopen the FBW Installer and check whether it is managing MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024.
2. Check the Community path. Make sure the displayed path belongs to the installation you actually launch, particularly after moving packages or reinstalling MSFS.
3. Use Normal Mode. Safe Mode suppresses third-party Community packages, including the A380X.
4. Clear aircraft filters. Show all aircraft and search by both the model and developer names.
5. Remove confirmed duplicate copies. Keep the version managed by the Installer rather than an older manually copied A380X folder. Do not delete files unless you have verified what they belong to.
6. Repair or reinstall through the Installer. If the download was interrupted, use a repair function when offered or remove and reinstall the package with MSFS closed.
7. Check storage and security controls. Confirm there is free space and inspect any antivirus quarantine or controlled-folder warning. Do not disable protection indiscriminately; allow files only after confirming that the Installer came from FlyByWire's official distribution.

Why is the A380X missing from the Installer itself?

If the A380X is absent from the Installer rather than from MSFS, update and restart the Installer, then confirm that the intended simulator profile is selected.

If no compatible package is offered after those checks, do not install another simulator's build manually. An old copied installer can also lack the package information expected by the active service, so obtain a fresh official installer if necessary.

What causes a long first load or blank cockpit screens?

The first A380X load can take longer while MSFS prepares the aircraft's systems, gauges and cached data, so allow it to finish rather than repeatedly terminating the simulator.

Blank displays are not always an installation fault. An aircraft loaded at a parking stand may be cold and dark, in which case its electrical systems need to be powered using the aircraft's normal procedures.

If the cockpit remains unusable after power is available, update the aircraft and test with unrelated Community add-ons temporarily removed. Keep the A380X and any installer-managed dependencies in place. How do I update the A380X or add liveries?

Update, change channel or remove the A380X through the same FlyByWire Installer, with Microsoft Flight Simulator closed.

Do not copy a new build over the old aircraft by hand, because obsolete files can remain and cause difficult-to-trace faults. Confirm that the base A380X loads correctly before adding repaints, and use liveries made specifically for the A380X rather than the A32NX or another Airbus.

A manually installed livery belongs in the active Community folder. Can I install the FlyByWire A380X on Xbox or PS5?

No. The FlyByWire A380X is an external Windows PC package and cannot be side-loaded on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro.

MSFS 2020 is available on PC and Xbox, while MSFS 2024 is also available on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Those consoles do not expose a user-accessible Community folder for arbitrary PC aircraft, and they cannot run the FlyByWire Installer.
