Can you play multiplayer in MSFS 2024 Career Mode? No—see what friends can share and how to fly together without Career rewards.
No. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Career Mode is not a shared or co-op multiplayer mode. Each pilot completes missions, earns credits, gains certifications and builds companies separately. Friends cannot join the same career mission, share its objectives or combine progression; use Free Flight multiplayer when you want to fly together.
What is unavailable in Career Mode multiplayer?
Career missions and progression belong to one player profile. MSFS 2024 does not provide a co-operative party or company system within Career Mode.
- You cannot invite a friend to share an active Career mission.
- Another player cannot take a mission role or help satisfy its objectives.
- Credits, reputation, certifications and mission ratings cannot be pooled.
- Players cannot jointly own a Career company or its aircraft.
For an explanation of the underlying systems, see our breakdown of Career Mode missions, qualifications and companies.
Can friends fly the same Career mission?
No—friends cannot run one synchronised Career mission. Even if two pilots find similar jobs at the same airport, mission triggers, scoring, penalties and payouts remain independent.
A common failed workaround is to match the server, airport, live time and aircraft before starting. This may place both pilots in roughly the same part of the simulated world, but it does not link their jobs. If another player is visible, that aircraft is not a participant in your mission and receives no share of its reward.
Why does Career Mode need internet if it is single-player?
An internet connection is still required for Career Mode's online data and account progression. Online access does not mean the mode supports co-op play.
Multiplayer switches and group invitations cannot add a second pilot to a Career job. If Career will not load or progression will not synchronise, check the signed-in account and online connectivity rather than the multiplayer group settings.
What should friends use instead?
We recommend Free Flight for a genuine shared flight. Recreate the Career job by choosing the same departure, destination, aircraft type, time and weather, then use our steps for joining the same MSFS multiplayer session.
You can fly the route together, but Free Flight will not award Career credits, reputation or mission completion. Our explanation of what MSFS multiplayer shares between pilots covers the other session limitations.
| Option | Fly together? | Career progression |

| Career Mode | No shared mission | Personal only |
| Free Flight multiplayer | Yes | No Career rewards |
| Virtual airline with multiplayer | Yes | External records; built-in Career remains separate |
Can a virtual airline create a shared career?
A virtual airline can provide shared schedules, flight logging, ranks and group events, but it cannot merge MSFS 2024 Career profiles. This is the better choice when group operations matter more than built-in mission scripting; our guide explains how virtual airline career tracking works.
Flights logged through a virtual airline still cannot be converted into MSFS Career credits, reputation or completed missions.
