Learn how to enable, customise or hide the Train Sim World HUD, use Minimal mode, remove markers and restore a missing display on PC or console.
In Train Sim World, open Settings and find the HUD options, usually under Accessibility, then choose the Normal/Full, Minimal or hidden mode offered by your version. On PC, F1 normally toggles the HUD instantly. Objective markers, stop markers and control hints are separate, so disable or restore those individually.
Where are the Train Sim World HUD settings?
The persistent HUD controls are normally found under Settings > Accessibility, although menu names vary between Train Sim World releases and platforms.
- Pause the simulation: Open Settings while driving, or enter Settings from the main menu.
- Open Accessibility or HUD settings: Look for HUD Type and the separate marker or assistance options.
- Select a HUD mode: Choose Normal or Full to enable the complete display, Minimal for reduced assistance, or Off/Hidden if your release provides that choice.
- Adjust individual aids: Set objective markers, stop markers and control hints independently rather than hiding the entire interface.
- Apply the change: Return to the cab and check that the chosen elements are visible.
If your version does not list an Off or Hidden mode, resume driving and press F1 on the standard PC keyboard layout. Press it again to restore the HUD. On consoles, changing the HUD through Settings is the dependable method because controller shortcuts differ by release and control scheme.
Which HUD mode should you use?
Normal is best while learning, Minimal suits drivers who still need essential warnings, and a hidden HUD is intended for driving from cab instruments and route knowledge.

A common mistake is switching everything off when only the control hints are unwanted. Train Sim World separates several interface aids, so review our recommended interface and controller settings before removing information you still need.
How do you hide only parts of the HUD?
Individual HUD elements can be disabled where the particular Train Sim World release exposes a separate setting for them.
- Control hints: Turn these off once you know the locomotive controls.
- Objective markers: Disable them to remove floating task indicators without losing the speedometer or train controls.
- Stop markers: Hide these separately if you want to judge platform stopping positions from route signs.
- Track and signal information: Select Minimal HUD if your version groups these items into a preset rather than providing individual switches.
Tutorial instructions and scripted prompts are not always part of the normal driving HUD. They may remain visible during training even when ordinary markers have been disabled.
Why is the HUD missing or F1 not working?
A missing Train Sim World HUD is usually caused by the F1 toggle, a saved Minimal setting or one assistance option being disabled independently.
- Press F1 once after returning to the driving view. On laptops, the required input may be
Fn + F1. - Open the HUD settings and restore Normal or Full mode; do not assume that F1 overrides every saved accessibility option.

- If only one item is absent, restore that item specifically. A missing objective marker does not mean that the complete HUD is broken.
Can you drive Train Sim World without the HUD?
Yes, but HUD-free driving works best after learning the route, cab instruments, braking points and signalling system.

German routes demand extra care because PZB acknowledgements and braking curves must be handled correctly without depending on HUD prompts. Keep the relevant assistance visible until you can operate PZB from the cab indications. Stop markers are also sensible on unfamiliar passenger services because the required stopping point is not always obvious from the driving seat.
